I found the following article to be particularly enlightening:

http://www.dailybulletin.com/Stories/0,1413,203~29584~2650452,00.html

Several priceless comments from Joe Newman included.

J. Newman is a complete tool. Wanting 75 teams next year is stupid and won't work. Also, I will tell everybody in Leavenworth Federal Prison that when they get out that they should get $10,000 and buy a franchise because it sounds like they would have some things in common with other owners.

Wow, that was a great article. The ABA reminds me of what George Carlin said about the general population, "a few winners, and a whole lot of losers."

Nice to know "Crazy Joe" still calls the state of the league "startup jitters." How many ex-cons and those wanted by the police are involved with the league? How many owners have put the $250k that it would have taken to get in the NBDL into their ABA franchise like Joe says he wants them to? How many people and companies are owed past due $$ by the teams? I'm guessing anyone who is not being paid the $$ they are owed (players, vendors, arena owners, etc.) would not call it "startup jitters."

Keep in mind this league played its first game December 26, 2000. And it took a season off to reorganize.

That's not startup jitters. That's complete ineptitude.

Good point Sam. I was at Cobo arena on 12/26/00 to watch the Detroit Dogs beat the Indiana Legends in OT. The state of the league was much better on day 1 than it is now. We all know, when a team/league says it is "taking a year off to reorganize", that means we almost never see them again. If this is what we get when a league does come back, maybe that is not such a bad thing after all.
