Agreed the move is not a popular one especially with the fans but a necessary one if the Skyhawks wish to make the playoffs. Young has not produced as expected and has been a liability on the bases. I can't even count the number of DP he has hit into that have taken us out of innings and once he does reach he's not scoring on routine hits due to his lack of speed. It is also difficult having a player that only is a DH b/c it doesn't allow the other players to get a rest from playing the field. Brown, Moreno, Perodin and Yaconetti have played in all 56 games and Rios and Weston in 55. I think this new player Crespi will allow these outfielders atleast a chance to DH which will make them more effective in the long run.
On another note, the roster is still down one with Young and Vardaro leaving and only Crespi as the addition. I don't know who we will get to fill the roster but it would be nice if it was an infielder with a bat who again could relieve the players that need some rest for the stretch run. Another move should be made today, I can't see going into a homestand down a player.

It's funny, I was talking about Walter during the rain delay here in Ottawa on Wednesday night with someone else.
When I saw Walter in Ottawa a month ago, I thought he had lost quite a bit of power. Apart from hitting a mammoth home run in a game he went 5-for-6, he grounded weakly for outs or singles every time. That was not the Walter I remembered with the Lynx.
As for not running fast, what did you expect? The man is 300 lbs!
FYI, Young had 11 GIDPs with you guys and only one since June 24. During this last month, he maintained his batting average but only hit 2 HRs and four doubles.
The Orioles released him after the 2005 season. The Padres picked him up for a year then released him. Winnipeg last year and now the Skyhawks. Do you see a pattern here?

guys guys listen skyhawker dont worry. I talked to my friend that works for the skyhawks and he said that walter had been a horrible character and had a few scuffles in the dugout before. And he was struggling anyway. Actually when i heard that i was glad they gto rid of him, probably the reason they were strugling. I think crespi was a great addition too. yo skyhawker im not sure if you went to todays game the 27th the game against the rox, they wn 4-3 in 11. anyway I was the first kid that threw out the first pitch, like the first of the group too. I also got a ton of autographs.
