Canton was named the AIFL's fourth franchise, I wonder how well it will do there.

It's amazing how much irony can end up in that answer. Canton is, after all, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

By being that host, is Canton too "purist" for the indoor game?

I leave the answer to those who live there. The question is interesting by itself.

Canton, Akron and Youngstown have been tossed around for several years as likely indoor/af2 towns.

They each have adequate population.

I see no reason why they cannot succeed if promoted well.

In this topsy-turvy world of indoor football leagues, it wouldn't suprise me in the least if Canton, Dayton and Cincinnati were all in the same league someday.

That would be sweet.

I agree. To be successful, these leagues need real rivalries --local teams supply that. I remember going to Dayton Bombers games over 10 years ago (when Cincinnati was still in the ECHL) and the rivalry games against Cincinnati and Columbus (the CHill!) were a blast. By far the biggest crowds and the most rowdy fun.

From what little early indications I've seen, this thing's going to take off in Canton real well.

What happened to the AIFL web site? The link to it from OSC goes to some financial company now.

:D I can't wait to go to see the new AIFL football game in Canton. I have been waiting for a team since the Cleveland team left. I went a few years ago to the Gund when the new Buffalo Destroyers played a preseason game against the Florida Bobcats. My wife and oldest son went also, and we all loved it! My wife and I went to a couple of the Thunderbolts games and we really enjoyed it. The Akron/Canton area is a great area for football. High School, college, whatever type of football it is. I believe people will support the team if it is marketed correctly. The Canton Repository has done a good job so far of covering the team.
