I know the Atlantic City Surf are reporting slightly higher numbers...too bad the stadium is falling apart...

anybody know how the rest of the league including the Ottawa franchise is doing attendance wise?

Attendance numbers are on the Can-Am site along with standings at:

www.canamleague.com/standings.php

Brockton has always drawn well and has highest average so far this year. Quebec also draws well.

Ottawa is currently in third averaging 2400. This despite two sub-1000 dates and lots of rain in the last few weeks. There is a core of fans in this city plus the Rapidz are doing a good marketing job.

The Jackals are a few people under 40,000. They have four home games left in the first half, which means about 10,000 more people (one game is a fireworks night). This would give New Jersey around 50,000 at the end of the first half. The Jackals should end up around 100,000 for the year, which isn't too bad.

I don't know if they report higher numbers (or why they would), but getting 8000 for a game is quite a feat, especially independant baseball. How are they packing all those people into a stadium that holds 5500?

What is wrong with Bernie Robbins Stadium? Can-Am site says it was built in 1998.

It's like Former Surf Manager and Ex-Phillie pitcher Mitch Williams said on his radio show (WIP AM 610) last Saturday...

The Surf only draw when they have fireworks. Saturday and yesterday, drew less then 2,000...to The Sandcastle...

Scoreboard and outfield fences look tired...

You'd think ... given that around 500,000 folks were at the South Jersey Shore over the weekend (AC alone had over 100,000)...that at least 3-4,000 would show up and watch the Surf on Saturday and Sunday

I don't know how you can be disappointed with the attendance it has been on the bright spot of this season.Comming into this season it was well known if the rapids avg 2,000 a game they would be in real good shape. The raps avg just under 2800 which to be honest is shocking alot of people.I do k now alot thought the raps would avg 1,000-2,000 per game. Then yout ake into count the rain 21 days in june the poor record so to avg just bvelow 2800 is very very good. The fans do care alot much more then the lynx had for the last few years. Now you aslo have to keep in mind there is alot going on in ottawa and yes there is other sports going on.

I'm with SummerFan on this.

I am not disappointed in our attendance. It is right where I thought it would be, especially given our record. It will probably go up as some good promotions are coming and should bring people out. I would have liked to set a new league one-game record and it could still happen. Atlantic City made this a little harder with just over 8000 last week.

And the Rapidz do have to compete with lots of other events. They are competing, as did the Lynx, for the limited entertainment dollar. Next year, they'll have to compete with two new water parks.

Atlantic City has seemed to do pretty well with numbers this year so far. I have usually made it to a game or two since the inception of The Sandcastle now known as "Bernie Robbins" Stadium. While I would say that there are a few things structurally that I would fix overall I think the Sandcastle is in pretty good shape. They seem to be running a pretty tight ship so far as the crowd and the Fireworks Show last weekend was the best I have seen in my time coming here.
