I was just listening and actualyy am listening to as I am writing this post, the transcript from Bettman's press conference on the 16th.

One of the major points I agree with is that all in all, if the salary roll back and other proposals go through, then this will allow for all teams to ice better teams which is relevant to more interest and rising attendance which obviously adds to the revenues. Although I agree that better competition as in the minors relates to rising attendance we have a major problem and it is yet another catch 22. Everyone is trying to work to get the new cba which should cause everything to work out right creating more revenues, blah, blah, blah. But........a major proble they are overlooking is that this is not Canada (although b/c of their love and passion for the game sometimes I wish it was), hockey is not the sport to Americans that Football and Baseball, and College Basketball is. Especially in the southern markets where professional teams have to compete with high school football since it is a way of life down there. Althoug in my other topic that I posted I said that the minors were missing an opportunity to capitalize it should be noted that the opportunity is something that should have been capatilized on even during the NHL Seasons of past because of what the minors have to offer to the public. People here have all but forgotten there was a hockey. People ask me all the time how the Rangers are doing and I say, are you kidding me, there is no season. Hockey grew alot in the past 10 years to gain popularity and whatever progress was made, I feel is reducing at an even greater rate...
