Rapidz 9 Jackals 4
The butterflies were gone. After committing six errors the previous night - tying a league record - the Rapidz did not waste much time in taking and keeping the lead. They got 16 hits on their way to a 9-4 victory. Adam Hawes went six strong innings allowing just one run on three hits. More important, the Rapidz played flawless baseball.
The bats started to come alive in the second as Jose de los Santos got a double - his second in two days - and was driven in by Juan Infante with a double of his own for the first run in franchise history. It didn't stop there as Ottawa scored two more in the third to go ahead 4-0.
The Rapidz pitchers held New Jersey to just three hits. Hawes did not give up a hit until the first hitter in the fourth and earned the win. Corwin Malone took the loss.
One of the bright spots for the Jackals was Ramon Nivar hitting his second home run in as many nights. He also had a triple to drive in the Jackals' first run.
The game also saw the stadium's first Can-Am ejection. It happened in the eighth as NJ's coach Ed Ott argued an out at third base. He may have had a legitimate argument from my point of view. Nevertheless, the runner was called out as he tried to stretch a double into a triple. Ott kicked some dirt on home plate and was ejected.
Still in the eighth, Jereme Milons gaves the fans some more excitement running around the bases for a triple that scored two more runs. He finished the night with three RBIs.
Karl Mejholm and Dallas Strankman relieved Hawes and did well holding New Jersey to a single run. Only Angelo Burrows struggled somewhat giving up two runs in the ninth, including Nivar's home run.
