Cal Liang, Wu Yong, Wang Yong and Luo Xudong are with the Express this season as part of a development deal between the Express and the Chinese Basketball Association's Shanghai Sharks. They've played in a couple of games; all four scored in the Holland game in early May. They came to Elkhart with the team when it returned from it's China trip in April.

On Thursday July 10th Elkhart will host Michiana's 1st ever International Basketball Game. Your Elkhart Express will play the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). This historical event will take place at historic Northside Gym with an 8:15pm tipoff.

Ken, thought you might find this of interest. More info on Elkhart Express website.

Thanks for the info.

July 10th?!? Isn't that kinda late in the season? When do the playoffs begin?

The Playoffs are June 27 - 29. The Championship game is scheduled right now for July 19, so this will give us our basketball fix during the long layover.

Winds,

How are these Chinese players? I know they probably don't get much playing time, but can they play if they had to? How are their skills?

Just wondering because here in Buffalo next year we'll have a few on the Dragons in the PBL.

They play well. They have been getting more playing time lately, and are improving with each game as they get more comfortable with the Express playbook. I think Elkhart fans have given them a very warm welcome, so that helps with the transition, too, I hope. They've definitely loosened up a bit and shown more of their personality as the season has progressed, too.

Did the Chinese players get any playing time against the Steelheads in Elkhart? I'm interested in knowing because I could not make it to Elkhart. The Gary Railcats were playing at home that night and I don't miss Railcats baseball. Period! As a matter of fact, there was a Railcats game the night Gary defeated Elkhart @ Gary. I sat through the first four innings of the Railcats game, then high-tailed it the few blocks to the Genesis Center to catch 50 seconds left in the first quarter of the IBL game. Almost like I didn't miss a thing. 8)
