The first one didn't exactly...how you say...work out?

But they just kind of let it slip away without really mentioning it.

Now there will be a new team next year in New Mexico (Gallup) that will be 50% Native American:

Typical white man. Pushing the native American aside.

But I guess 50% of a potential future franchise is better than 100% of a franchise that never existed.

I just saw the listing on the front page and tried to find even the nearby city. I'm assuming its near Albuquerque? Anyway, any information would be appreciated.

Also, I noticed on another thread that the St. Louis Flight were listed as the least likely team in the ABA to return. I have no idea what their attendence is like or anything so any info about them would also be appreciated.

Well, at least this Native-American team is closer to being legal than the other Native-American team. Billing yourself as a 100% Native-American only team was bogus from concept to cancellation (of season).

Gallup is two hours west of Albuquerque, a town of 20,000 surrounded by reservation land. In many ways, it's the MOST appropriate place for a Native American team.

Still, it's a town of 20,000, with barely any populated areas within an hour's drive, and I doubt they have the facilities to host basketball and sell beer at that site (a good reason why most ABA teams will fail miserably). It's not the richest small town in America, for that matter, and not even close.

To some degree, I think such towns are more appropriate for this league than the big cities Newman seems to get... well, maybe a little larger than Gallup.
