Unfortunately, the writer didn't do a fact check when he wrote the following:
"Malone's e-mail began by blasting the Atlanta Vision, the ABA (not the same ABA that merged with the NBA in 1976) team that went on to win the shady league's championship in late March. The shadiness is actually what Malone was trying to articulate but so miserably failed at doing."
The league may be shady, but when did Atlanta move to Vermont?
Meanwhile, the writer did mention the following:
"The game to which a dignitary the likes of King III was invited was ultimately canceled - the 34th time this season a scheduled Gwizzlies game had not been held. The Vision were then named division champs, prompting Malone to spout off without the help of a thesaurus, an eighth-grade grammar book or even a good old Webster's dictionary. Instead, he unapologetically let go of the people who do use those books: "Everybody we have ever hired to do PR and write for us have been fired, release, resign or quit cuz they want to run things their way. It want ever happen."
I didn't know eighth grade English was in such poor shape in Macon, GA. I would have thought the E-mail was maybe third or fourth grade level writing at best.:D

Embry - great job.
Now damage control starts. We want minor league hoops to prosper. We don't take joy in schadenfreud..............ok sorry........big word, look we want you to do well.
Just approach things right. all the best.

The Macon article confirms my contention that the email was indeed meant as a press release, not an email solely to me or OSC. I believe it is safe to say that Mr. Malone has his work cut out for him if he wants any more attention from the Macon Telegraph.

I think the lyrics from the link below might help Mr. Malone understand the situation better. It's from the long running Broadway musical Avenue Q.

This may yet be the most attention the ABA has received since the infamous Sally Anthony-Ashley Mclhiney incident.

Minor league sports take another hit
http://www.macon.com/sports/columnists/story/314230.html
Apparently, Malone's ungrammatical and self-aggrandizing 227-word rant was trying to refute claims from users of the OSC Web site's forum pages that the Gwizzlies are a joke and that they should be approached as such.
In hindsight, it's becoming easy to see why some have never taken them (Gwizzlies) seriously in the first place.
Sending out ...
Georgia Gwizzlies Rebuttal to OSC: Spell Check this
http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3614769
... Was clearly, very poor form by GM Embry Malone.
That's not acceptable professional behavior by any and all accounts.
The ABA CEO states on the ABA All Access show, that there is not enough work for a VP of Team Operations in the ABA ... Whaaaaaaaaaa
Looks like one (of many) of the ABA member organizations which needs some attention, is not getting much direction or assistance from the ABA League office. If I was a league executive, I'd sure be on the phone, sending an e-mail, making travel plans to that team's office and arena, taking care of the business of minor league basketball and taking care of "The League."
So, instead, what we end up with ... are articles that come out; like the one above; which do nothing but harm and shed a negative light on an organization (The Gwizz) that NEEDS ALL THE SUPPORT AND HELP THEY CAN GET in their marketplace!
This also makes the ABA, look even more, like the amateur based organization, this it is!
Not only are the Gwizz at fault, but the ABA CEO, 100x over.
REAL CEO's manage, lead, and facilitate by example.
Obviously, the reason the ABA is in such a bad state, is because the ABA CEO does not take his role very seriously and does not command a level of responsibility, accountability and professionalism from members of the ABA.
Was anybody really in charge of the ABA this past season? (And I mean, somebody, 'doing it right')
So go ahead ABA ... and be all about - affordable, fast-paced, fan-friendly, exciting basketball for the fans ...
But unless there are some REAL changes made with how the league conducts itself ... You are going to continue to get labled just like the Gwizzlies have ... NOTHING BUT A JOKE!
The ABA CEO talks on the ABA All Access Radio Show about having more DEMOCRACY in the ABA ...
Well, I tell you ...
The only thing I see in the ABA that is Red, White and Blue, is the ABA basketball.
Wake up ABA team owners ... It's time for a REVOLUTION!

Oh Christ. Let me go focus on a real league. This one makes me want to hit the shrink and get a prescription for Xanax

Not around here Standard.
Maybe you've become to use to things being done in a proper way in the BSN.
But Embry decided to throw his dictionary in the river and come out all guns blazing at OSC.
Malone- you've embarrased yourself and your team. You keep name dropping MLK3rd in everything you do. That name is a gift to you and your organization and you have absolutely decided to walk all over it with your 2nd grade, ridiculous "press release".
You should be ashamed. Ashamed. The name Martin Luther King stands for something far larger than you laughable little team. Try to live up to the name value. Why don't you go back and read what Dr. King said about the nay-sayers.
Embry, you are a smart man with a fast temper, don't let one attribute overwhelm the other to your downfall.

I don't think he could ever as ashamed of that press release as his 3rd grade teacher is!

Just for reference, this is what sent Embry on his rant......
"The Georgia Gwizzlies announcing they had made the ABA playoffs....In December!!! An addition to the Gwizzlies is owner Embry Malone's inability to write a press release that did not cause my spell and grammar check to explode. One of the releases was so bad that exploding computer parts landed in Washington DC. That in turn forced President Bush to contemplate declaring war against the great state of Georgia because he thought the nation was under attack."
Sorry, I have to take SOME credit for this. :D

Paul with the problems we have in the BSN. We look like the NBA of all the North American Minor League Basketball Organizations. Ok the D League may have that for now. Maybe.
Embry, you need to hire someone to write those releases. Maybe MLK 3 may help you? My computer has spell check that lights up even on web sites. Seeing a Gwizzlies release, the page looks like a mass murder homicide case.

As they say, you just can't buy publicity like this.
When the local paper pulls your pants down in print like that, it just might be time for the Gwizzlies to quietly go away.

Sending spell check to Embry Malone will end his ABA life.
