Let's all kick back with a case of our favorite beverage and play the ever-popular A1Sports drinking game, shall we? The rules are simple. Every time the following occurs in an A1sports post on OSC, take a drink of beer, wine, whiskey, Diet Coke, whatever. Try not to pass out or have to run to the bathroom before the end of the post.
Take a sip if:
(one drink) A1 mentions "Jaloza"
(one drink) A1 mentions "lawsuit"
(one drink) A1 calls Joe Newman "Jojo"
(one drink) A1 spells Alex Wolff's first name as "ALex"
(one drink) A1 mentions that he called somebody
(two drinks) if he called Joe Newman
(two drinks) if he called someone from the PBL
(two drinks) if he called someone from the CBA
(three drinks) if he called someone from Dial-A-Prayer
(one drink) A1 claims that someone will win the championship
(two drinks) if he says the Frost Heaves will win the championship
(two drinks) if he says it's arranged ahead of time
(three drinks) if he says the Frost Heaves will win the NBA championship
(one drink) A1 mentions the book he's writing about the ABA
(two drinks) A1 mentions that the book is about to be published
(three drinks) A1 mentions the "book" will be ghostwritten by Alex Wolff
(one drink) an A1 post uses the word "shameful"
(two drinks) an A1 post uses the word "miserable"
(three drinks) an A1 post uses the word "potrzebie"
(one drink) A1 suggests if people want the truth they can call him
(two drinks) A1 encourages people to call him for all the details
(three drinks) A1 actually PROVIDES a phone number for which to call
I'd give a few more (hic) but it's not good to drink and type at the same time.

Chuck, the only probelem with this is that everyone that comes to OSC will be in AA by the end of the week.

He did say you could drink Diet Coke. I know the ABA can lead you to the hard stuff, but you don't have to get hammered to read his posts.
But it doesn't hurt.

And then, for fun - try to read a Gwizzlies press release.
It may be the one time they make any sense...

Hell, I'm already plastered. And I just got my eyes checked, too, so I can't see.
Thanks a lot.

Chuck, very clever and funny. But seriously, I respect your right to post your little Utica Wrecker tales, which are funny and all the other assorted tales you write. You should have the same respect back. You see Chuck the difference between you and Chris Fells is that one takes the chance to point out things that are wrong the other doesnt. Which is your right. You choose to post what you like, I choose to post what I think may make a difference to some future owner, season ticket purchaser, sponsor, venue operator or a casual fan. If I choose to post the same content in various ways, its my choice. So, post what you wish, I know I may have made a difference, can you say the same? I dont think so. If I wanted to know what color socks the CBA team that won the championship in 1970 wore than I would surely turn to your expertise. Will your information prevent someone from getting hurt, not in the slightest bit. So my advice, you could have written your little game about getting a drink every time Joe puts out a press release or announces a new team in the same city for the 5th time, but that would be taking a minor journalistic risk and apparently you choose not to go there. Common, be a man, ask Chris or myself how Joe can berate you on the phone or an e-mail.ALways easy to take the safe side. Oh, by the way have a drink on me, (JOJO), (ALEX) ( Jaloza)

The diet coke (name not capitalized in order to whack The Man in the head) crap is likely worse than the booze.
A1... I do not believe in the power of a message board to change the world. The best we can do is to change one mind at a time... and the true change of one mind usually takes a lifetime to accomplish. Having just read your post, I suggest you take this board too seriously.

Probably true, but OSC is really the only national media outlet (so to speak) or sounding board out there that addresses the ABA. So in that sense, it is the only chance to try to make a point, no matter what it is.

Respect must be earned, Dougie.
You see Chuck the difference between you and Chris Fells is that one takes the chance to point out things that are wrong the other doesnt.
This is a message board. It ain't the source area for Reuters.
I choose to post what I think may make a difference to some future owner, season ticket purchaser, sponsor, venue operator or a casual fan.
And so do I. I just choose to do it in satire.
If I choose to post the same content in various ways, its my choice.
More like you post the same comment in the same way - over and over and over again until the message is lost in the method. Just saying is all.
So, post what you wish, I know I may have made a difference, can you say the same? I dont think so.
Oh I've made a bunch of differences in minor league sports. I just don't ramble on about 'em on OSC. And I stand behind my real name. Can you do the same? I don't think so.
If I wanted to know what color socks the CBA team that won the championship in 1970 wore than I would surely turn to your expertise.
They were white, they were worn by the Allentown Jets, and they all matched. Next question...
Will your information prevent someone from getting hurt, not in the slightest bit.
As opposed to your "information," which you expect us to take as the gospel truth, despite your not having any credible or tangible verifiable source materials. So come out from the shadows and post your real name and identification. We're waiting...
So my advice, you could have written your little game about getting a drink every time Joe puts out a press release or announces a new team in the same city for the 5th time, but that would be taking a minor journalistic risk and apparently you choose not to go there.
Once again. This is a message board for fans of minor league sports. This ain't 60 Minutes. Joe doesn't care about what's said on OSC, as far as he's concerned we're all mean-spirited bloggers and he leaves it at that. He doesn't even send Paul Reeths the mass mailing feed for his blandishments; any ABA press releases are coming from the teams who haven't yet removed OSC from their mailing lists.
Now if someone from HBO's Real Sports or 20/20 did a profile on what's going on with the ABA and uncovered all this, Joe would be more nervous than a madam at Midnight Mass. But that's the nature of the beast, Dougie.
Common, be a man
I think you mean "Come on, be a man," because it's very "common" for me to be a man.
ask Chris or myself how Joe can berate you on the phone or an e-mail.
Joe Newman doesn't give two scrubs about me. And I don't care if he does. All I'm saying is that in your incredible zeal to tear down the ABA, by hook or by crook, your message is getting lost in the methods.
ALways easy to take the safe side. Oh, by the way have a drink on me, (JOJO), (ALEX) ( Jaloza)
Oh, go buy a Little Rox for yourself. They probably came out of Joe's back yard - or fell out of his head.
Happy, Dougie?

And just so Chuck doesn't get cast in a negative light here, he has written about the ABA. You can find it on this site. Other than hurting A1's feelings (he is a sensitive boy), Chuck is guilty of nothing.

And here it is.......

You see, I have also met Chuck and interviewed him twice. I know what city he is in, I know his work, and just about everyone in the PBL and CBA knows Chuck's work. A1, can you say the same?

When A1's identity comes out, if it comes out. I think we'll all be very surprised.
Newman claims to know exactly who A1 is and the whole JoJo thing is something that is a clue to Joe.

I think the world will end when A1 tells us who he really is.

I just wanted to use this post to mark the difference between "seriously" and "too seriously". I do have those moments where I totally go left-brained on this board... but to have some fun here is a recognition that sports are only "so" important in our lives.
Obviously, a ponzi scheme merits serious attention. I just think a1's delivery is essentially preaching to the choir, though some of the tidbits (not all) are certainly worth bringing forth.
Chuck keeps it fresh. Repetition is a time-tested way to lose an audience.
