good morning - (sorry for the typos - typing from a french keyboard) we tried to get onto our fan site and couldnèt - if you can find a way to spread this message go for it. check out the manchester site for one side of the story. san diegos last shot appeared to be good, ending the game - naturally looking at the video might show something else. what the manchester site didnèt mention was that mcginnis pushed one of the refs in the back running through the tunnel - some said coach lessert also did some pushing and shoving but that may only be rumor. people did see and hear him yelling and screaming like a child at the refs. the place was in bedlam. having been pushed from behind by mcginnis, the ref slide across the tunnel floor - also on video. of course mcginnis was ejected and when the ot started, san diego shot their technicals giving them the start of their ot win.

sd did leave the court at the end of regulation thinking they won - all but manchester thought they won, too. the aba commissioner got involved - only time i actually saw him engage with someone the whole playoff. when it was announced that the basket didnèt count, the fans coulndèt believe it.

sd finally returned to the court and the vt fans - about 30 of us began to root for them - not because we feared manchester as their website states, but because we thought sd was robbed of the victory and they played with heart and, once again, manchester proved to most of us, at least, while they have good players, are a team thatès difficult to cheer for. many of us said we thought there might be some trouble, and not to be wrong in our prediction, a manchester player went after a ref - unbelievable.

all things considered this has been a great tourney.

issa konare went out with back spasms and may not play today, brett has a slight ankle sprain but will play, erik collided with issa but seems to be okay. we may be hurting but weère champions, should be a great game today - the two best teams are still standing and ready to go....i think i saw the mancherster bus on the highway out of quebec on their way home and will look forward to some new spin on their website.

tr - we got a new sign - cats ate the rats -

Don,

I have sent an e-mail to Heavesrock (Admin over at the fan site) and I have also contacted Informe (board hosting) about the problem. I have not heard from either at this point, but I will keep trying.

There was a little about what heppened in the SD-Man game in the Times Argus this morning, but didn't do into the detail you have.

I will want to check out the footage of the game when I can.

This site and the Heaves board are the only ways I can keep up with the game today (Scotty couldn't get the transporter back on line)

I do have to say that the Frost Heaves fan site being down on Championship day is ......as so many here say..... very ABAish.

But..... site down or not, and whether 200 or 20,000 people are there to watch, here's hoping for a great game. May the best team win.

It is my understanding that all of informe's message boards are down.

Out of curiosity, why is McCarthy treated so well on that site? He has been disrespectful to the Heaves all season.

He hasn't been disrespectful. His team has beaten ours 4 out of six times this season. He feels his team is the better team. Its confidence not disrespect. The feelings run both ways. Some fans take it a little far sometimes.

At the beginning of the season, he said Voigt goes after robots and he goes after talent. After the fights in January, he stated in his press release that he hopes Vermont looks into Nelson's role. I feel calling out a team in your press release is disrespectful. On the Millrat's site today, he insinuated that VT fans are more fearful than loyal. That's disrespectful to the fans that greatly outnumber his. On the site a few days earlier, he said Texas would go to today's final. Call that confidence, too, if you wish, I call it unprofessional and obviously inaccurate.

Who am I to say what? I repeated things McCarthy said and said it's unprofessional. What is the big deal with that?

As for the number of fans, what is the big deal with me stating Vermont has more?

Fells, what is your issue??? You must be a Rats supporter. Maybe you are a Rat. Well good luck with that because the are losers in every sense of the word. Why don't you just go on their website and have a little pity party with them.

Have you ever heard of carma. Bad things happen to people that do bad things!!!!!!!!!

The two title games are a microscosm of what the Heaves are about. They can win in a blowout and can win a tough one.

Congratulations to the Frost Heaves!!!

Congratulations to the Frost Heaves!

Being unable to hear the broadcast, did Issa play? He was doubtful this morning.

Thanks for the updates, TR!

Yeah...congrats to the Heaves!

Now that they've proven they can go back-to-back, will they pack up and leave the rec league? Hopefully, but we will see...

Issa Konare actually started today. I believe he had 6 points. He went out mid way thru the 2nd quarter and sat out the rest of the game.

MVP was D. Rice.

I'm sorry...but your name...it just screams "Tallest midget" or "Most Violent Squirrel" to me.

Congrats to Vermont.

I think the radio broadcast estimated between 800 and 900.

For any fans interested, the Frost Heaves will return to Vermont tomorrow. The team bus will be stopping at the VT Army National Guard Armory in Berlin at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The crowd was announced once at 1000+. I heard no other reference to it.

I want to thank all those on this forum who, despite your feelings of the ABA, still gave the Vermont Frost Heaves organization the credit they deserve.

See you next season..... unless I hear breaking news in the meantime. :D

It was an attempt at a joke. I recognize the writing style and I believe this is a guy I know up in the Burlington area. I was just trying to jab at him a bit. Sarcasm doesn't exactly come through sometimes.

I leave it up to others to find fault or issues with the ABA - I'm not up to speed on those things and care even less. I was in Quebec for the tourney and watched all of the games. Despite the chaos of the San Diego-Manchester ending, this was great basketball.

It's a shame so few people came out to watch - far less than the 900 suggested - because of the quality of play. Nonetheless, the Quebec organization did an amazing job putting on a great event. They worked so hard even when they knew attendance was going to be nowhere near what they wanted. I have no clue what role, if any, the ABA plays with this event, but the 40 or so VT fans that made the trip had a great time watching great basketball in a great arena in a great city!!!

I've been to all of the VT home and away games (including the game in Atlanta) and will enjoy this moment for many years.

We may not have, man for man, the best players in the league, but we've got the best people playing and now we've got the best team, again!

GO HEAVES!!!

What makes you say that?

The ABA is so lacking in "class" (by any definition) that to declare yourself to be the "class" of it is really overblowing a rather minor accomplishment. (IE...being the tallest midget doesn't mean a whole lot height-wise, and well...being the most violent squirrel is kind of self explanatory)
