Thankful for the GBL

I guess we all should be "Thankful" we will see baseball this summer in our Cities and Towns.

With the South Coast League ceasing operations for the 2008 season it makes me realize how the GBL has continued to keep truckin'.

We all have our problems/concerns regarding the league and home teams but one things for sure..... we will see great baseball this summer!!

Amen to your reminder. (Some of us are still waiting for our GBL teams to come home...Dawgs) But let's all be supportive of the GBL and hope for a very long life!

Good post, S. Sox.

The old Western Baseball League managed to last 8 years so that is the next bench mark to eclipse for indy baseball in the Western U.S. since many use the WBL as an example of why baseball won't work in the geographically spread out west.

Looking forward to some great baseball!

I'm HUGELY thankful to the GBL for fostering a place where I could go and watch good ball, meet some pretty WONDERFUL people and let my son see what being a professional ball player is all about.

I'll never forget what turned me onto the GBL from the get go. It was a a morning radio interview (Channel 93.3?) with TK. (Note: I am, as most long time Padres fans are, a fan of TK in a big way)

I couldn't get to work fast enough to hop online and figure out what was going on in town that was going to be brining back "my" TK.

After cruising the very limited web site for the Surf Dawgs I called my sister at work and told her, "You *have* to host a Surf Dawg!"

She replied with, "Can I host the Manager?"

The rest, as they say, is history. We had good and bad GMs (about a hundred of each it seems) and we got to meet and become friends with some darn great folks.

I now sit and hold my breath for the return of the Surf Dawgs to San Diego, but while waiting my sister, my son and I have been blessed to be able to travel to all the GBL locations for games. Just to get our fix. :D
