Wow, another week and another handful of teams on life support. I find it almost as sad as the OPBA that opened play last year.

Too many press releases. They have all of the promise of a whopper with cheese yet deliver french toast sticks on a bun! And trust me my friends, that is not tasty.

35 teams @ $10,000 per = $350,000

Does the $10,000 pay for the refs for the season or is that the responsibility of the teams?

From usbasket.com

Other rumors around the league tell about serious financial problems in Detroit Motown Jammers, where the owners have told the players (all yet unpaid) they are free to break their contracts and go elsewhere.

Well, I, for one, am shocked!

What, the 175 or so who attended the first game couldn't cover the payroll?

It's a shame the whole league. I hope Tijuana will get a team in the Mexican League next season and leave the ABA.

I know its a long shot, but perhaps the strong teams(Long Beach, Nashville those kind of teams) will start their own league. Some of them are in bad spots geographically to try to get into the NBDL and CBA. Jumping ship may be the only way to survive.
