March 22nd All-Star Game.
http://event.playonsports.tv/frostheaves/?eventId=4183
With 4:40 left in the 4th quarter. Go to the webcast 2:23:30.
When talking about how disappointing it will be not to see Halifax in the Great 8.
Vermont Frost Heaves announcer:
"There were some internal problems with that team..."
Did I hear right??? They managed to play 32 games, and 18 home games.
From what I can see, they "missed" one road trip.
Westchester, Strong Island and Corning...

missed a road trip from teams that stopped playing.
"Internal Problems"= If you're not down with Pope Alex, Prophet Dick and Messiah Joe you have problems according to the ABA

LOL. THis scheme can only happen in the void of Barre, Vermont. Try this little con game in another city, wouldnt work. Joe and ALex in a backroom laffing at all the sheep in the "AUD" Even the radio announcer knows what to say to promote the rec league. MAybe he gets 1% of the book royalty?
SHame to say that about Halifax.

Internal Problems=A team telling your league to "stick it" right before said team is supposed to play in the playoffs.
Internal Problems= Having a member of a team that supposedly did not have enough players qualify for the playoffs (West Texas Whirlwinds) play in the All-Star Game
Internal Problems=Scheduling a mini-playoff involving three teams only to have two mysteriously declared ineligible leaving the remaining one to travel to the team that will tell your league to "Stick It" and automatically qualify for the playoff. (seperate events, but Atlanta was scheduled to play in Halifax Friday and Saturday and home against the Georgia-West Texas winner on Sunday.)
Internal Problems=Having a franchise pay for the entire playoff rather than the league doing so.
Internal Problems=Having a franchise pay for an All-Star Weekend at the last moment rather than having the league do so.
Internal Problems=Teams coming and going almost at will from the league (First State, anyone?)
Internal Problems=Allowing a team to play all of their games at home (Beijing/Singapore)
Any more Internal Problems out there?

Yes, Joe and Steve know what to say because it is their job. They are professionals, they are good at what they do, and are world class guys to boot. This is called the world of radio where we have to protect our interests. Joe works for the Heaves and for the sake of his wallet, he will say what he can to protect the league. Does he know the real story? I would assume so, but that does not need to come out over the air. For them (Joe and Steve) to do so would be totally unprofessional.
I don't know if you have ever seen the Aud, but it is a place with some character and quite a bit of history.
You don't seem to realize what the Heaves have done for the City of Barre. Barre is a little town that has seen better times. Crime is up, the economy is in the toilet, and times are a bit tough in Central Vermont. Regardless of what I think of how the league has been run and its countless issues, the Frost Heaves are good for Barre and even Burlington.
Do I hope Vermont switches leagues? Heck yes I hope they do. But for now, they give a small town something to take their minds off of things. Isn't that what basketball is all about?

Its one thing if radio broadcasters do some home cooking its another to out and out lie. WHat he did was wrong and unprofessional. But I guess this is the new "peoples republic of Vermont Radio broadcast" where anything can be said to discredit another organization for the overall good of the state of the Frostheaves.
Why stop with the owner lying that there is no problem witht the ABA? For the radio guy to say Halifax had internal problems, when we all know they didnt, is all part of a JOJO-ALex Show.
PLease Vermont, Stay in the soon to be run by ALex, ABA or beter yet, form your own little rec league and play Boston 8 times and beat them by 30, the sheep in Vermont will love you, they dont know what real pro sports is like.

I would actually have to agree with a1sports for once. That's really quite unprofessional to drag another team through the mud because they left the league. If you want to toss out pro-Vermont propaganda, that's fine, but there is no need to spread mistruths. Don't touch on the Rainmen if you are uncomfortable with the situation.
However, I don't see why everyone is ruling out a simple misunderstanding on the part of the broadcasters. A few posters on the Chronicle Herald website thought the Rainmen had folded as well, even though it was made quite clear that they haven't. Was what the announcers said annoying? Of course. Was it actually malicious? I sort of doubt it.

Of note, Joe and Steve HAVE pointed out some of the issues the ABA has had and are facing. You heard one broadcast that is not indicative of how they have done their broadcasts over the last two seasons.
Have you ever stopped to think maybe they may have interpreted the Halifax situation differently than you and I may have? They (Steve and Joe) may also have information you don't have. Journalism is subjective and is always subject to interpretation.
"People's Republic of Vermont"? Come on, only those of us who live here can get away with that. :D

I agree with you. It's one thing if the broadcasters are misinformed. I'd have a problem if it was a deliberate distortion of the facts. Either way it will have no affect on the Rainmen organization. They'll still be well run with a good fan base.

Been in radio for twenty-five years....and just learned that making up half-truths and broadcasting them on the air is the defination of professional!
But, I've also been in pro basketball for 20 years and the ABA has taught me that I was doing that ALL wrong too!

This is bush league.
Halifax left for valid business reasons........
-want to provide fans a game when scheduled, as scheduled.
-want to be in a stable league with a stable number of teams
-want value for their 10k entry fee
-want to be able to rely on league, not other way round.
to lay into them is wrong.
