Ok, after all of this, and IMO now everyone (that has a mind) knows the ABA is crap. Here is what Joe will do:
He will do what he did with Doyle last year, he will do what he said at the ABA owners meeting, that is, He will step back and retire and let the new blood run the league. Of course he steps back for a second than jumps right back in.
Take a look at the stock offering for the ABA, Joe has a page in there that says he will retire as CEO on December 31, 2006. IN A LEGAL STOCK OFFERING BOOK, and he still didnt.
So for the goofy owners left, if you buy this snow job from joe...PLEASE BY ALL MEANS>>> STAY IN THE ABA AND AWAY FROM THE CBA AND PBL. You have been hypnotized by the letters A B A. Look into Joes eyes...A B A....Look again A B A....do you feel like forking over 10K? LOL. I bet, there is an owner or two who will try to do this and run the ABA. It will stink way after Joe is not involved anymore...which is probably around the year 2015.

"In fairness to the Halifax team they, along with the Vermont Frost Heaves, may be the best run teams in the league. Vermont was one of those two teams who played all their games last year.
Now, they did win the league title but had to go out and buy a trophy. I was told the league would reimburse them for that expenditure. We're not sure if that happened"
Thats right a Mickey Mouse, Cracker Jack Box Trophy. Alex you pendejo did you get reimbursed???? Nahhh Joe wouldn't even Reimburse the Devil.

I've emailed Newman twice in the past week on this and the Halifax issue and he will not return the emails or answer the questions.
He should email the questions to Robbie Kendall. Everybody knows Robbie asks the tough questions and Joe's responses make for a radio program you won't want to miss.

That's too funny.

And wouldn't you know it, A.B.A. style, for that last weekend of the season the Vision did show up but their uniforms didn't arrive and so they were given black team Canada T-Shirt and used masking tape to make numbers.
....it amazes me how many ABA teams show up without uniforms. The Atlanta Vision seemed to basically play a partial exhibition season (18 games)...taking only trips paid for by others (at least that's what's been reported....eg, Asia, NE ABA trips), or playing the the lowly local Gwizzlies. They basically seem like a team for hire at this point. Of course, all of this could very well be the fault of the league since they basically have no one to play, but my point is that I think it is a stretch to call the Vision a sucess story ready to move up in leagues, even though it sounds like they are run by nice guys. But they are still standing, even though not playing a complete season against real league foes, so I guess maybe that does make them a success story in the ABA.

If you are affiliated with this ABA - and you are able to keep a positive credit rating - then you are a success story.

Three items from the article caught my attention:
"Levingston wasn't overly crazy about the A.B.A. playoff schedule that seemed to change every week. Some teams with a few league games (under 10) got in while others did not. This was worse than the Gong Show. "
Where's Gene, Gene, The Dancing Machine when you need him? :D
""You could end up with the champion team having played just a handful of games in the league. That doesn't make sense," says Levingston who will now try and get Halifax into the National Basketball Association Development League (NBADL.) He's also looking at other options such as joining the PBL like many former A.B.A. teams have done or the Continental Basketball League. "
Tell that to Baghdad Joe. It makes sense to him.
"I could write a book on this league. "
Which would be number 3 pn the list of books on the new ABA.

Excellent article.
Good job Alex.
I love the quote "But, I have never seen such a sad, sickly, sordid, spectacle as this league called the A.B.A". Welcome aboard the ABA express Alex.
