Good point Standard, but maybe he should just jump over these guys and the PBL and the NBA-D and go after the NBA.

Wait for Joe to start USFL2010, or FederalBaseballleague2009 and get more fodder
for his posts...
BTW -- When the AFL merged with the NFL, I hope the NFL also took the rights
to the name...

If the ABA folds then there will be no players stranded without pay. There will be no venues stuck without payment, there will not be any sponsors who got taken. etc etc. All other leagues are respectable.
I can go get my documentary published.
"The ball isnt the only thing that bounces in the ABA"
" How the ABA fouled out"
" One man wrecking crew"
still working on a title.

In book form, how many volumes would that be???
On PBS, it would be a year long soap opera...
Another title:
Time/Life Books -- Great Failures of the Indiana Kitchen Series
With and handsome, hand-tooled leather; Red, White and Blue cover.

well there were players in the CBA and the PBL that were not getting paid due to ownership issues or ABAish acts.
You just dont hear a D league team saying we bounced checks.

So all will be right in minor league basketball if the ABA folds? We'll no longer have bad owners (cough cough Michael Tuckman cough cough) or players or fans or arenas getting stiffed?
Good to know. It'll be Hoops Utopia if the ABA folds.
And, just remember, kids - it's okay for a1sports to write a book about the ABA, but it's not okay for Alex Wolff to write a book about the ABA. Just so we're clear.

Alex pissed and moaned and begged the Northeast ABA teams to stay when they wanted to go to the PBL, because his book would have had a sudden ending. I didnt con anyone. My book is ALL based on peoples experience in the ABA and yes I contacted ALex to have his say. He didnt have any problems with the ABA...May 3, 2007.
Its like having a barber shop where your clients sell drugs out of them. WHen the place gets busted, the shop owner cries , I didnt know anything bad was going on. yea, right. ALex is quoted: He sees no problems in the ABA.
He will win a rec league title for sticking with Joe and letting Joe say " We have a sports illustrated writer that owns a team and you can own one too.
Hmmm another title. " ALex and Joe..how to split 10K"
Self-servitude at the expense of others is wrong.( but, I know, I know, they have a great organization, LOL )

"Loose Balls" is the definitive book about the original ABA. I think "Loose Screws" would be a good title for any book or documentary of this version.:-D

So you're going to write this book using a pseudonym, then, right?

A1 - I'm first in line to buy it. First in line.
You don't see A1 on the CBA board or the D-League board *****ing and moaning. Thats because they don't snooker innocent people and idiotic people into forking out 10k to a 70-something wigged man in a basement who can't afford to pay his own step-son.
Alex Wolff is simply self serving and didn't care (IMO) what happened to anyone else. I like the fact the guy runs a first class business and team. But back in January all the NE teams banded together and basically said, forget Newman, he can't drive a Chinese rickshaw let along run a league, so we've got to work together to take care of business. Well thats fine, but some of the teams wanted OUT of this league and a group of 5 or 7 teams going to the CBA or PBL would have gotten in at a discount or even free.
Well Alex said something along the lines of lets stick it out here and I'll talk to Joe as he listens to me. This is how it was explained to me.
The only reason Alex wanted them to stay was so he could finish up his book, he didn't give a hoot about anything else and basically worked some people who were already worked over once before by Joe.
Now, realistically, I have no idea if this is 100 percent factual or not, I wasn't on any conference call, but its been told to me by someone who should know. The fact that he told it to me also indicates that he wanted the story to get out, just not traced back to him. Take it for what its worth.
So for the above reasons, I don't like Alex Wolff. I wish the Heaves success and like the fans, I wish all organizations ran like the Frost Heaves. But they don't, thats Joes' fault, some of the good ones are still stuck here, thats Alex's doing IMO.
At least Andre has jumped ship. Vincent Bernier in Quebec is also close to saying Au Revoir Joe.....

Amen Paul. Thank you. you see the light and have always seen the light. You must not be from Vermont.
If I was Alex and his partners, I would be careful. When the states Attorney investigates, someone sure looks like a co-conspirator in this ABA scam IMO.
How can poor Andre survive basketball without the 3-D rule and and RWB basketball....LOL

ABA balls were buy one get one free at the last 4 Rainmen home games... so I think he already came to terms with the loss of the red, white and blue ball.

So when Vermont leaves the ABA and joins another league, are the people here that cry about Alex going to keep it up. (Maybe Alex already has a plan with the CBA to start screwing people over. ) Im sure it wont stop it will only get more annoying

Well, I really have an inkling that Alex has some things to answer for.
OTOH, in case I manage to make it to New England this fall, I'll be begging for travel tips. I'm not here to throw people off the cliff, I just want it known that an honest effort will be rewarded and dishonesty shall be approached with hell-bent fury. Something like that, anyway.

On a personal level Jimmy, no. I hope the Heaves are successful in the ABA or whatever other league they join. I just didn't like the fact that (this is what I've heard) Alex told the other NE and Canadian teams one thing and it was done simply for his selfish reasons of writing a book.
and that A1 story about his wife that we've been told not to talk about may have some validity.

I Have enough quotes from others who told me exactly things alex said about Joe and the ABA, which was NOTHING BAD. Go back and read the clips from the Vermont newspaper stories, NOTHING BAD. listent to what he said at owners meetings or conference calls...NOTHING BAD about Joe or the ABA.
SO will he say the same thing about Halifax leaving the playoffs as he said about Rochester, Maryland, Arkansas last year?
" Well, it clears up the log jam in the playoff picture"
WHat??????? Follow the trail of comments and speeches and it shows only one thing...self preservation at the expense of others.
I know if I was the CBA or PBL...I wouldnt want an owner like ALex and his partners, not the kind of partners one would want.
PS thanks for the e-mails ( finally) from those who agree with what I have said the past few months on the Vermont back door deals.
