There, I said it.

I also have to say that ideally I would have liked to see the Rainmen complete the playoffs, but what can ya do...I know the decision is what's best for the team.

But...no more 13th player? No more Christmasy lights around the backboard? No more uncertainty as to whether or not your opponents will show up (and how many players will show up)? No more Singapore brothel anecdotes? Damn.

I know exactly how you feel. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs were in a similar boat last year (although they competed in the playoffs). There is something entertaining (on a Three Stooges like level) about the Red, White, and Blue Flying Circus that just isn't there in a normal league. That said, I wouldn't want the Sea Dawgs to return to the ABA if they were the last minor basketball league on Earth. However, if the ABA survives past this year, I recommend doing what I did this year, which is go to my league's board for basketball and come here for the comedy.

I like the 3-D rule, good way to get extra points for hard work in a full court press, and gets teams back in to games pretty quick

All the other wackiness, I can do without that, next year in the PBL, a REAL league

I'm not even a real basketball fan. I don't really like the sport particularly. I went to one Celtics game in 2002 and a Cape Cod Frenzy game in 2003. Thats it. Don't watch it on tv, except the final four. If you ask Pounder, or Bomp, they find me on the big soccer board. I'm far more interested in Manchester United than Manchester Millrats.

What I love around here is the whole Joe Newman experience, I love the business of minor league sports. This board is the funniest by far on OSC. The Jim Cashman tales on the hockey board and the Carolyn Shiver stories on the NIFL are funny too.

I'm here to laugh at Joe.

Would that be Flying Circus or Flea Circus? The boys from Monty Python would be offended by the ABA's brand of comedy.

Any story about Link Gaetz (and just about any story told could be made to stick to him) is FAR funnier than our troika (or more) of bad-boy / bad-girl CEO types. That's where Chuck fills the gaps!

Still, Gaetz is comedy candy. This is drama. Low drama, to be sure...

ahhhh "(The Missing)Link Gaetz"

the guy was a one man entertainment act. In KC, when I was with the IHL, I once saw him hook up with a puck-bunny between periods one and two, then gun down a beer between two and three, came back on the ice, got a game misconduct and watched the rest of the game from the press box with the girl from the first intermission and more beer from the second.

a team is announced you put money down on two season tickets, to help a minor league team out. The team leaves town no phone, no forwarding address, no promise by the league to do anything. It is a local problem take it up with the owners. If this was a one time deal chalk it up to bad timing on my part, but have it repeated more than a hundred times and smells of a ponzi scam meant to defraud the minor league fans. The end result is a lack of support in the future for any minor league team coming to town, and the destruction of minor league basketball in America. jack
BTW This is the plan not just by chance. Keys to Success.
