ABA to return to Hollywood next season
03/16/08 - American Basketball Association (ABA)

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it would return to Hollywood CA next season with a team owned by Providence Films, a Los Angeles-based entertainment studio. Providence is involved in motion picture production, television production, music video production, online production and home video acquisition and distribution. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "This is the second of two teams that will be owned by Providence next season, the other being Phoenix which was announced earlier. Xavier Mitchell is 'all entertainment' with a background that includes work with Boyz to Men, Adina Howard, MC Hammer, Ice Cube, TLC and others. He has just released his latest film, "Fathers of the Sport." We have confidence that he will turn the new HOLLYWOOD SHOWSTOPPERS into a major sports/entertainment success. We are very pleased to be back in Hollywood."
"Quite honestly, I have not had the time to devote my full attention to our two new ABA teams," stated Mitchell. "We were so involved with the premiere of "Fathers of the Sport." But now that the move has been launched, we can concentrate on the HOLLYWOOD SHOWSTOPPERS and the PHOENIX FURY and wil make them both outstanding teams in this great league. We are looking forward to competing with San Diego, Orange County, Maywood, Long Beach, Fresno, Las Vegas and the other west teams. Not only will we be very competitive on the floor, but the events themselves will be as "show biz" as Will Ferrell's movie, Semi-Pro." Based on the reviews of the movie, he sets the bar pretty low, no??

ABA RETURNS TO HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA IN 2008

30-Nov-2007
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association will return to Hollywood, California next season when the Hollywood Showstoppers take to the floor.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Hollywood is a great setting for an ABA team and we have the ownership group in place to do it right - a very business-oriented, entertainment led group with a passion for basketball. And they've promised that they will combine the best elements of professional basketball and show business to give the LA fans a real treat. We are very excited and the Showstoppers will certainly fit into the great SoCal division."

The ownership group will be led by Xavier "X" Mitchell, the CEO of The Flow Group, LLC and Providence Film Group, LLC, a Los Angeles-based entertainment studio whose industry offerings service the multi-billion dollar motion picture, television and music industries. The group will also own the previously announced team, the Phoenix Fury, in 2008. "We've looked closely at the ABA," stated Mitchell. "And we believe totally in their objectives and mission. We also believe that we can add a lot of excitement to the league with our approach, the combination of show business and basketball. This team will be something very special."

The Hollywood Showstoppers will be in the same division as the Maywood Buzz, the San Diego Wildcats, the Orange County Gladiators, the Long Beach Breakers as well as the returning Tijuana Dragones. It will be a very competitive and fun division.

Hey Joe, these are the same 4 teams that played playoffs this weekend
and still haven't reported scores to ABAlive or OSC.

I guess another 10K takes precedence.
