View Full Version : Xplosion at Skyrockets
Given that this is the only game going on now, here is my take for Monday night;
the X have one fewer win than Oklahoma and one more loss, which means that there is no reason why we can't win vs. the Skyrockets, as long as we take a game at a time. I'm aware of how good Minot is and head coach Chris Daleo is a great coach, regardless of what he said in preference to this series. He is a good motivator with great athletes working with him, which means that the X have to be at their best. Coach Knox knows this. If we do not play with the motivation that got us here, it will be over. But I expect it will be a great turnout.

Coach Knox will get ejected early on for two technicals.
He won't be able to keep his composure under the bright magic city lights!
The Skyrockets Psychotics will be out in mass force. We're all going to face paint and I'm making a sign for the webcast! {White side of my bedsheet not yellow}
I will think of you psbf, my Pittsburgh counterpart, as I sip the sweet, sweet nectar wine of victory, in my LAY-Z-BOY rocker in my mother's basement after the game.
We shall vanquish the X with the help of all of the power of the heroes and ancestors of Minot.
Afternoon De-light!
Minot 114
X 72
skippy. Our coach is Carlos Knox, one of the more mature coaches in the league. Don't mistake him for M.R. Richardson.:cool:

psbf. There is no try and try is all the X can do. They did not learn when they looked into the tree and cut off Darth Vader's head, and saw Carlos Knox behind the mask.
These two games in Minot will be the last in the history of the X, as the beatdown will make them cry so hard and the continous loss of monies will ensure that they fold this off season. Pittsburgh will celebrate it's 250 year anniversary without the X, and will throw a party celebrating their defunctness. I will attend.
{I have heard rumblings of the X not being able to afford the plane tickets home, and wanting to borrow money from the guy who owns the gas station I work at so they can get home, but he said no)
There is a certain logic behind some of what is in your post, Skippy. But as far as the X losing it and folding---dream on. Not happening;)

One difference is OKlahoma kept adding talent and Pitt lost a key guy.

What logic? In that post? You are confused again.
The X will not even show up for the game in Minot, it will be local Minot retired basketball players who wear white t-shirts with black electrical tape with an X on them.
I get mad when people talk about the Skyrockets without talking about the X folding. MAD !

PBSF,
What day are you getting to Minot on Amtrak? I see your still posting , I guess trains probably have wifi, or computers or something. I have never been on one. How many people from Pitt took you up on the Amtrak idea.
No question the Skyrockets are good, Skippy. And chances are that they will take the series. But even your coach admits that they could be off tonight. So no need to get so cocky, acting like we don't have a chance. As Oklahoma proved, anything can happen.
Obvoiusly I'm still here, Kings, since I could not afford to travel.
wha happen'd?

i too will make a sign to flash towards the webcam...... maybe we'll have the Rockettes wear "PBSF" shirts tonight as they dance around.......
then PBSF shirts will be all the rage across the U.S. of A......... kinda like the Dane Cook "A:F6" deal...........

Psbf, if you would have told me that you couldn't afford the bus ticket to Minot, I totally would have gotten you here. Totally. Dude, you need to remember that even though we may have disagreements about the X's and the S's, you are still my homeslice.
Next time don't be shy about asking for help. {Sorry, I'm cocky about the game, but I'm totally gay for the Skyrockets!}
Your pal,
Skippy
your offer, Skippy. But I can't afford the time to travel. I still have a dog to take care of. In addition, I never said anything about a bus(Greyhound). I said Amtrak(train).:)

PSBF, in order to finally meet, I would have paid for the dog too.
I would have gotten a plane ticket for you. I would have rented the space shuttle {like I can afford it}
Bummer.
Next time, share your situation. It makes me mad when I want to help you and you don't ask.
Best,
Skippy

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to see the game -- was there a good crowd in Minot? BTW where can I get a PSBF t-shirt?

The X played awfully tough last night..... the old cliche that it was a ''much closer game than the final score indicates'' holds true here (as you know if you watched or followed the stats). Ronnie had just enough of his stuff fall thru the hoop to get Minot over the hump. Ray Cunningham had a big game too for the 'Rockets per usual. By the way, my buddy in Bismarck tells me he saw a PBSF sign around halftime..... he's not sure though, difficult to make out (see) for sure. Anybody else catch that?? Awesome!!!
I think Pittsburgh might have enough left to put up a decent fight again tonight and maybe tie it up. They looked hungry. I'd probably have to wager on the 'Rockets but I wouldn't feel totally confident doing so. Great ''series'' so far.
Can somebody tell me (Chuck?).... is the Rookie on the roster thing out the window this year in the league or has it just kind of been waived-off recently because of the troubles some teams have had filling a squad. Or, is there a different rule for the playoffs?? Minot was without seldom-used rookie Eric Davis last night (he's done supposedly) and I don't think the X had a rookie either.
>>>>>>> just for the heck of it, 3/18/08 prediction: Minot 95, X 86
telling people not to take the Xplosion for granted. The second half has typically been our strongest. Unfortunately, we fell apart in the 4th quarter. We need a totally strong game tonight or we're out of it. But I think coach Knox will have them playing strong again tonight. No matter what happens, though, it was a great season for us. It would be good if the X could pull off a win and force a game here, on Thursday.

PSBF,
Did you see the sign?
Just in case their is a game in Pitt, can you tell me of a nice hotel near where the X play?
Thanks.

There was 1400 plus last night. Looking for a better crowd tonight.
First, any reports of my being at the X/rockets game are untrue.
second, if there is a game here, try the Sheraton Station Square.

psbf, did you see the sign on the webcast?
Look again tonight. A bunch of people are making them.
Thanks for the hotel info.
Your pal,

Whatever.
Congrats on your win, Skippy and all Minot fans. But I still feel that you had an unfair advantage of playing both at home. I don't care what the league says about our venues being booked. It's done now, though.

PSBF for chatting about the series with me.
The X put up a valiant effort, and it IS clear that the CBA does have something against them, as they should have had a the homecourt advantage, and/or not had to play the Miners. Maybe next year they will bring home the coveted Drucker cup.
I do not gloat over the victories, because in life sometimes we are all vanquished and humiliated, and one does not wish to be treated badly when the stick is up or on the other end of the grass.
You are a true fan, and the X should be proud to have you as their fan.
I don't understand why you put whatever in your post, but whatever back at you, buddy-dude. : )
Your pal,
Skippy
I started with 'whatever' in response to your mention of a motel, which is obviously a mute point now.
I appreciate you being mature about your win, Skippy.

Not only that, it's a moot point, too.
How many were at the game?

The announcer said 1241. Thought there would be more, but people don't like to get out early in the week. Monday and Tuesdays are not good nights for ball games. There was a gun show going on in the arena this past weekend so that is why the games were played on Monday and Tuesday. The gun show is an annual event and is always on the weekend before Easter.
