Yes, the AAPBL is for real. The league will include 8 teams from what i understand. While not all of the teams have been announced there are still some really good midwest markets that will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

My understanding is that the league will be centrally controlled rather than a group of franchises doing their own thing.

From a fan's standpoint i have heard they will rely on high quality ball plus add alot of entertainment beyond what you see in CBA, ABA, etc.

From what i know it's a very strong plan with excellent financing!

I have found some stuff on their plan, but I have found any exceptional ideas outside what is all ready being done.

These are the same backers that are working with the GBA and AABA. There are several rumors of WGBA seeing light last this spring.

I am intentially saying very little as I am under gag contract, but I will say what I can.

The most incredible thing I can say is at the end of the day was the entire room at the hotel chanted "God Bless the GBA" over and over. The enthusiasm in incredible.

Man, if you've seen their plan and don't see what is being done that is different than what is already being done you need to look at the plan and what other league's are doing.

The AAPBL is going to have a tough time drawing the 3300 fans a game they need to make money. (that figure came from the AAPBL) The River Raiders led the USBL in attendance and they only averaged 2200 a game. What is gonna be that much different that they are going to be able to increase attendance 1100 fans a game? And it will be just as tough or tougher to get fans and sponsor support after the "one and done USBL".

From what i understand the league isn't connected with any other league.

As for the attendance we'll see. But if you look at the CBA numbers from Cedar Rapids it shows support is their to be had. As for the USBL team from what i understand they didn't really have to many people that really wanted to sell. Good personnel but people who were interested in areas other than selling, which has to be priority number one.

The Silver Bullets were here for three years and never made a dime. Kevin Krause, the owner negotiated a naming rights agreement with Coors Light, which was the largest sponsorship in CBA history and they still didn't make it. You are also talking attendance numbers from the late 80's and early 90's. The city has changed. You are also talking about an established league (CBA in early 90's) versus a new league with no history. Good luck trying to sell that to the local businesses. The new team will have to compete for the same dollars the River Raiders had to. The Kernels have tied up lots of the advertisers money. The personnel for the River Raiders did a good job. They provided a good show for the money.

I enjoyed going to the River Raider games last year (although would have helped if all the other teams looked professional with their cheap uniforms). Was sure it would be able to stick around since the required attendance numbers were low for them to make money. Then that whole St Louis mess is what I still believe did it. Was hoping they would have just made the move to the CBA....I still don't like these fly-by-night leagues and at this point is all the AAPBL is (until proven to me by getting on the court). I too am a bit worried about those needed attendance figures. Those are quite high and really the RoughRiders (USHL) are suffering lower attendance only getting 2,629 and the Kernels I believe were only getting slightly higher (can't find the exact numbers now) like 3,000 (?). It is going to be hard not only getting those corperate sponsers but and average fan in the seats too...after 4 failed attempts at basketball here.

Oh well, if they...and I mean if....they do actually get this league off the ground, I will attend it and see how it is. They sure have promised alot, saying it will be at least the same or higher quality than the CBA.
