ABA Orlando Aces move to North Las Vegas 2008-09
03/14/08 - American Basketball Association (ABA) Las Vegas Aces
The ABA Orlando Aces are relocating to North Las Vegas for the 2008-09 season. The Las Vegas Aces will hold basketball and dance try-outs July 10th- 12th. For more information please visit www.abalive.com.
Aside from the lack of information -- Owners, Arena, Coach, reason for the
franchises sudden drop from the face of the earth last season...Does anyone
in Las Vegas even care???
By the way: Official count = 4

Actually, the count is 6:
Las Vegas Slam
Las Vegas Rattlers
Las Vegas Venom
Las Vegas Lights
Las Vegas PROLYMs
Las Vegas Aces
(Aces is actually the best-fitting name-but something tells me they'll actually play about 5 games before shutting down)

Once again another ABA owner who pulled the plug in the middle of the season is simply allowed to set up shop somewhere else.

There's only one problem with this statement: Orlando only played one game!

If they want to have some fun with it, they could change the name to Las Vegas Deuces.

Nothing with the ABA surprises me anymore...
Maybe next Joe will allow the Bahama Pro Show to move to Orlando and fill
the void left by the Aces...

In the ABA, that can be half the season.

Yes, you can qualify, but you couldn't play because you didn't have enough players on your roster with 3 ABA games.
Welcome to the Hotel Joe Newman - you can check in any time you like, but you can never play...

Thats if they find a place to play. I don't think anyone will let them in their building, unless its a high school and even then I don't think anyone will show. We're waiting for the Hornets anyway. 2010. And NHL. Is MLB dead?

The real question: of all the new teams, which ones are Joe's shadows to improve the numbers, and who has actually paid? My hunch: when a former owner is announced, they're just agreeing to have their name used while Joe waits for someone with actual money. The basis of the ponzi scheme is numbers attracting numbers.

The owner and Aces team's move is legit ... found that out before the 07-08 ABA season. He decided to move because all of the Florida teams had already left. Todd will last at least half of the season before folding, but it will be a good effort.

I would guess that Triplett either already paid his market reservation fee or made arrangements for it. I would doubt he paid another one to move to LV.

OMG - Todd Triplett could teach a course called "How to Compound your Problems Immediately"
On one hand I give the guy credit. He's obviously not a quitter and believes he can succeed, those are both good indications of a person who is hard-wired to run a business. But to keep beating on this dead horse of a league is remarkably mind boggling.
Clearly it hasn't exactly lit Orlando on fire, so Todd decides to move to the one city that actually has MORE to do for your entertainment dollar than Orlando on the entire continent!!!! Good Lord.
Maybe he can partner up with Eliot Spritzer, the Chicken Ranch and the hotel in Singapore that Beijing put the players up in for some sort of hedonistic basketball experience but this is a non-starter on almost every imaginable level.
