Patroons season tickets for 2008-2009 just went on sale, no increase in single game tickets prices but the big news...an 18 game homes schedule, down from 24. If I have my facts straight, PBL is a 10 game home season, CBA is 24. 18 is almost a mid point compromise...maybe the negotiations are already complete!

The Cavalry set up a table at home games a few weeks ago to try to sell season tickets for next year. They also have 18 home games listed. This was even before Great Falls folded, so I wonder if that changes anything...

..though it is encouraging that teams are already starting for next season, and that the Patroons are returning (that was in the back of my mind, in all honesty).
It is entirely possible that RGV just changed the dates from this past season and put the icon up.

Maybe the western teams will continue to play 24 home games and the eastern teams will play 18. Which would save them a ton of money in travel cost.
If Quebec, Halifax, Vermont and NH leave the ABA and Rochester, Reading, Rockville, Wilmington merger with E.Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Albany. That is 11 teams and if the CBA adopts MLB old two league approach the eastern teams would not have to travel west.
In the west you could have Texas from the ABA, Arkansas, Rockford and Quad Cities from the PBL along with Yakima, Butte, Minot, Lawton, RGV, Team China, and a second Trinity team. Which would also be 11 teams.

I sure hope it is true...it would be great to have some regional rivals back in the east CBA, improve the level of play by consolidating the leagues (and talent), reduce travel expenses to help franchise financial success (maybe invest a little more in the players).

Team China? After this summer's potential Olympic fiasco (see Tibet), I doubt there will be a Team China in ANY US-Based league next year.
I'm surprised that China was even mentioned! I think we should look to our Northern neighbors before we think about expanding overseas.

..right now, if I remember right. They are based in Oregon. Of course, Aoshen is in the ABA, even if all the games are in Singapore.
Joe Clark, the Butte owner, said the CBA had a similar deal worked out for a Chinese team for next season, so that is why it was included, I am sure.
The Olympic furor is largely because its a worldwide event on a big stage. Any negotiations over Tibet are not going to have any impact on trade deals at the minor league basketball level.
