Rainmen forced to make 2 schedule changes
THU, MAR 13, 2008 • The Halifax Rainmen

The Halifax Rainmen organization has been forced to make two 11th hour schedule changes due to a significant development with the scheduled opposition. Tonight’s game versus the Bahamas All-Pro Show has been rescheduled for Saturday March 15 at 7:15pm. Tomorrow night’s game will take place as scheduled with a 7:15pm tip-off. The visiting team for both match-ups will be will be the Atlanta Vision, not the Bahamas All-Pro Show as scheduled.

“I cannot express enough my disappointment with the ABA at this point,” commented team owner Andre Levingston. “My utmost apologies go out to all of our supporters, fans and volunteers. We did everything we possibly could until the very last minute.”

Fans holding tickets for tonight’s game have the choice of exchanging them for Friday night’s game (same seat cannot be guaranteed),or using their existing ticket for Saturday night, or receive a refund on their purchase. All exchanges or refunds must be processed at the Halifax Metro Centre box office.

There is no doubt that Atlanta will show up. Carter Patterson is one of the better owners in the league and if he says he will be there, he will be there.

what happened to the Junkanoo music was not going to be there?

Mr. Smith all talk no action, ah a prototypical ABA owner. ABAish to the heart and core.

Junkanoo or Junkaroo whatever it is. This league and the vast majority of its teams are Junk.

The Vision were also an 11th-hour fill-in at Quebec just a couple weeks ago, so I would be much more surprised if they didn't make it. Atlanta has the ability and inclination to make the trip. There are a handful of teams in this league, such as Atlanta, that go out of their way to do things right and help out the others. Unfortunately, they are more than offset by those who don't play their games or honor their commitments.

The most telling quote from the release:
“I cannot express enough my disappointment with the ABA at this point,” commented team owner Andre Levingston. “My utmost apologies go out to all of our supporters, fans and volunteers. We did everything we possibly could until the very last minute.”

Hmm ... I'm curious to find out more!

This would be a good hard-hitting question for Robby the K to ask Newman this week.

Poor Halifax, they deserve so much better, and hopefully soon, we'll see them elsewhere

They will...This is also going to hurt them if they end up playing their
playoff game on Sunday. Kudos to the Vision for being the only team in the
South in 7 years, that has actually been willing and able to get it right.

I wish Carter would take over the Krunk, or maybe he has. The Krunk did get some finances at the end of the season, and supposedly have new ownership (though nothing is on the CBA web site).

I am guessing you'll be seeing a bunch of teams together applying to the CBA, including Halifax, especially if they could get some sort of second team out there to cut travel.

Interestingly, the Vision's website does not mention the games against Halifax this Friday and Saturday, or the playoff game on Sunday, but does mention the trip to Vermont on the 19th.

I'm beginning to sense a possible change in the playoff structure.

Thanks for the props everyone. The Vision are headed out in the morning with 9 players to face Halifax.

I am tremendously proud of our players who were able to make personal sacrifices to leave on a last minute trip. Halifax is a great organization and we look forward to playing more games with our Northeast colleagues.

I've heard some good things about the fans in Halifax and I'm sure they will be great hosts. I will not be able to make this trip, but I'm looking forward to the flight to Boston on Tuesday followed by a nice country drive to Barre, Vermont. Chris told me that the whether was 79 degrees so I'll probably bring shorts. The line had a little static so I might be off 60 degrees!

I will check with the intern who handles the website, but this game came about pretty quick. Our home schedule is over and all of our remaining games are about preparation for the playoffs.

Paul...congrats to you and the Mrs.!

Just to let you know, I respect your organization. Was there a change to your game with the winner of the West Texas-Georgia matchup? The ABA website still has it for Sunday at Gwinnett.

Mr. Hughes...thanks for the question. We have no more home games scheduled at this time. I know you want more of an answer on this question. I should know more on Saturday.

The scheduled game date, as of now, is Sunday -- and you should find out more on Saturday?

Tell me again why you're a member of such a disorganized organization? :)

Carter is one of the best in the business. Straight up, honest and a hysterically dry sense of humor. If you aren't smart, you won't get Carter's zingers.

Great job in making things work in Halifax this weekend. You guys are pure class.

I agree 100%. Regardless of when the game gets played, I really want to see the Vision beat the Georgia - West Texas winner. Unfortunately, he plays in a league that is far beneath him, and he suffers for it.

Let's see how he feels about seeing someone in a Joe Newman Utica Wreckers' jersey. How about a pic?

That really is a classy move. Plus, you are actually travelling with close to a full team, something most teams can't seem to do.

Sweeper...I'm not going to Halifax, but I'll be in Barre on Tuesday. I'm the short, bald guys who will be wearing an Atlanta Vision / ABA button up shirt. I should be one of the few guys without a cowbell. If I see anybody in a Wreckers shirt, I will ask for a picture!

Yes! The team landed in Halifax. Unfortunately, the bag containing the jerseys is still in New York....mmmmmmm Hopefully there's a Dicks Sporting Goods store nearby! We should play good tonight, but we'll look good and play good tomorrow night!

Heck just have halifax give you the road uni's.

The Vision have the Vision to do things right. Joe Newman? His Vision is 10k at a time and no love for no one.

Mr. Hughes...now that its official...I can say that we were 99 percent certain that the Whirlwinds and Gwizzlies game simply would not happen because of logistics. I'm going to leave it at that.

And it is official. So much so that I would put it at 100 percent.

Now for a nap. After the headaches I have had today (Start laughing now Carter) I think my eyeballs are ready to pop out of my noggin. Man, what a day.

Oh, and the latest has been written.
