Ok. Andrew Haines has announced his first expansion team. The facility that will house the South Shore Shooters is nothing but a rec center that houses gymnastics, high shcool hockey and youth hockey. The facilities website dont not mention seating compacity. Neither does Haines Press Release. Poll question. How long with the MAHL operate next season?

How about this question:

South Shore Shooters: Do/Don't exist by July 31st?

Better yet, of last seasons 5. How many return?

The NEHL part II.

If the MAHL plays another year, my guess is that it will likely be closer to a semi-pro circuit.

I can agree with that, especially if they are playing in places like mentioned above. But there will still be people who will be buying into the concept of paying big bucks to Haines to be a part of this league. Hopefully people wise up and the madness with this guy comes to an end...

Andrew Haines: We did have some bumps in our first year, like most start up businesses do. The main thing is, you need to learn from the bumps and avoid them in the future. We learned a lot in our first year.

South Shore Shooters Press Conference (3/12/08) about the MAHL

"It's going to be different this year," said MAHL president Andrew Haines. "We learned our lessons and have a business model that will actually work. We're very excited about next year and about the Northwest Indiana market."

"All the teams were losing a lot of money," he said. "We were a little too aggressive and didn't do things far enough in advance."

How much did Haines really learn that first time around? My guess, its going to be a short season...

Good catch, tops804. Had you not attributed the quotes to Haines, I would have guessed they were made by the ABA's Joe Newman.

That crossed my mind...Both the ABA and MAHL "added" teams to the state of
Indiana this week...

The last thing we need is some type of synergy between the two.
