I listened to the whole game...something I haven't done for awhile...what a game.

Chicago up 27-7 at half, and Kalamazoo came storming back. Down 33-31 with under a minute left, the Xplosion let J.R. Taylor score on a short touchdown to make it 39-31, hoping Chicago's kicker would miss on (yet another) PAT.

He did.

The Xplosion stormed down the field and scored on Brian Dolph's third touchdown catch of the night, and they tied the game on a tight end endaround pitch to L.J. Parker.

No, really, they called a pitch to the tight end on a game-tying two point play with 11 ticks left.

Kalamazoo scored in overtime to make it 46-39, and then recovered a Ronnie Gordon fumble on Chicago's overtime possession (the CIFL uses an NCAA-style overtime, only with a kickoff to start each possesion rather than placing the ball on the 25) to clinch one of the biggest comebacks in league history (27-7 at half). Great win for K-zoo; devastating loss for the Slaughter.

Great win for the cifl. in general. How many people were at the game?

K-zoo's announcer put the attendance around 2000 fans. Chicago announced 7000 tickets sold.

I knew that Chicago announcer had to be wrong when he said that.

It was a great game, good comeback by Kalamazoo.

Easily the game of the week so far.

Kzoo's announcer wouldnt know 7K if it bit him in the nose.
The lower horseshoe was full and they opened
the upper level to fill in the seats from 20 yd line
to 20 yd line up there.

2K "SOLD" perhaps, but 7K total bodies attending is NOT a stretch
It was packed.

Excellent. The radio broadcast did not do that crowd justice.

That is an excellent crowd. It'd have been better if the home team was the one making the huge comeback, but it was still a great game.

I'm surprised that the lousy game system didn't cause it to be a blowout. [/SARCASM]

For the record I'm glad they had a close game. But give it time. Those teams may have been evenly matched speed-wise.

The bell-curve from prior seasons says give it time and you'll see the mismatches coming in the same horrid frequencies.

I'm thankful the Marion Mayhem were in the central mean of the distribution bell-curve when I did go to their games.

*-Like another poster once said, why waste bandwidth bringing this up,..especially to someone like me?

A great game right there. A good mix of big plays and defense, which is exactly what we envisioned when the CIFL rules were put together.

Teams are closer this year in talent top to bottom (with Rochester being the possible exception), and scores so far have followed that. The UIF, with the NIFL's game system (minus the two changes - 90-second warning and one fewer player in motion) has basically had nothing but blowouts so far this year.

The game system has little to nothing to do with the scores, and we're finally seeing that. It's all about talent disparity, and it always has been.

The stats may say 7k...but no way is that tickets sold.

I agree...it's always been talent disparity in my book. Each league will have close games and blowouts. The CIFL had two close games and a blowout, the UIF had three blowouts and a close game, etc. It all evens out. Sorry for feeding the troll.

Discussions about lopsided scores and why they occur is meaningful.

A sample size of one week is not a fair sample size to conclude much of anything at this time.

Go CIFL. Go AIFA.
