That's right local business man Renty Rollins has purchased 100% of the team from Roy Reap. :D Here is a link to the story.

Rollins has stepped up from GM to owner, but is this a good or bad thing? I don't know much about Rollins. The Drillers are the best chance to knock off the Koyotes in the APFL if they even slightly play like they did during last years debacle of an NIFL season, so hopefully Rollins will get them headed to a title.

Rollins was the GM of Ford Arena where the Drillers play. Before now, he was not a part of the organization. Coach Blake is still the Team GM.

Sorry, guess I mis-heard the news link. Thanks. Do you think he'll do right by the Drillers?

Getting the Reaps out of the picture is not a bad thing. This only adds confidence to the projection of Beaumont.

That's my initial feeling as well.

I don't know this Rollins guy. But this might just be the right step to take toward joining a "real" league next season.

I'd love to see Beaumont in the IFL next season.

This is a new begining for the Drillers. This may be the turning point this team has needed. (local owner, year around invovlement) Things are looking up.

The big question is how deep are his pockets? At least the Reaps had $$$.

The Reaps never used it to help further along the quality or perception of the team; they did far worse "with money" than 90% of the ownership groups do without money. The only thing they did differently than a lot of the failures was "keep playing."
The APFL is a good league to be in for a team to get their feet wet figuring out how to run itself.

Even though I live here in Lake Charles, I'm not from here but from New Orleans and a big VooDoo fan and attendee. from everything I have ever heard, getting Reap out is BIG/GOOD news. I agree, maybe next year could see the Drillers in the IFL. I think the league has always wanted a team in Beaumont in the IFL, just not a poorly run one. It will help rivalries and help with travel costs esp with Louisiana and Katy. I'll try to take a trip out there when I have free weekend and check them out. Coach Blake knows how the team here is run and has attended games here as well as coached here with and against us. We along with Corpus and Odessa off top of my head could be good role models for Beaumont. a MUST for the Drillers though if they DO join the ifl is to keep and develop local talent. this league as well as many other teams like it, thrives on local stars than fans recognize. SwashBucklers have about 8 ex-McNeese guys right now and heck even the VooDoo have like 5 guys with New Orleans or Louisiana connections and costs issues are not a concern for them like non-NFL owned AFL teams or teams in lower leagues. Get it going, make it a fun place for the fans an cheap enough, and win or at least be very competitive and it'll work. sponsorships/promos are big, too. Thom does a great job with that here in Lake Charles. I wish Beaumont the best. the city and its football fans deserve it.
