I bought the Slap Shot DVD a couple of weeks ago. How about the Federal League. It sounds about the same.

It's March 3. None of these proposed leagues (MWHL or Kolpien's) has so much as an office or a phone number. At this point, all franchises should be up and running if they are to have any chance at success. If anyone can give me a list of successful minor league hockey franchises that opened their doors after March 1, I'd love to see it. I will guarantee it won't take long to read it. As for the MAHL, anyone who is looking to invest a dime with Haines is sure to kiss his cash goodbye. Any player who agrees to play in a Haines league is, quite simply, even dumber than those who invest in the venture. I just gotta wonder, when do Taylor Hall, Jeff Brubaker, Jim "I ain't got no Cash"man and Joe Kolodziej get announced in upper management positions in these leagues?

Not that anyone in that area would remember. But there was a scam ran in Canada under the name of the Federal Hockey League, two or three years ago. They charged players almost $1200 for the first tryout camp and "signed" them to contracts. They told players three or four different times that the league would be ready to go. In fact, they had two schedules that were officially released one was a regular hockey season and when that died, they released a spring schedule. So for credibility sake amongst players I'd say avoid that name.
If the IHL can take the name of an old league and assume its history, why not call this league the Colonial Hockey League?

Because the Colonial Hockey League moniker doesn't even have rosy memories of past glories to trade off of.

That sounds like the AAPBL scam of a couple of years ago. A basketball league that charged a $1,000 tryout fee then brought all of the players to (I think it was Montana) for a two-week tryout and summer league, followed by a draft. The league folded before playing game one, leaving a lot of unpaid bills and unpaid coaches and staffers.

Yeah it was a similar situation. If you search this board there should be a thread or two about the FHL. I always wondered what happened with that? Last I heard there were a group of players ready to launch lawsuits against the owner (I've forgotten his name) but I had never heard anything more.

EHL - The SPHL called itself that briefly and the ECHL asked them to change.
NAHL - you've got the Tier II Jr. league and the LNAH
NHL - The real NHL wouldn't let that fly
ACHL - SPHL might have something to do with that
FHL- the aforementioned scam
IHL - I don't think the current IHL would like that.
