I talked with Mr Premo, owner of the Copper City Chiefs. He told me he has reached a deal to place the Chiefs in the MAHL. Also told me the MAHL is planning to have ten teams next season. I also read an article on line that the owner of the Valley Forge Freedom will be starting a team in Danbury, CT. Along with this team he will be starting a new league. Anyone with info on that. Mr. Premo also told me that if the MAHL didnt pan out there are two leagues starting up next season. I know the MWHL and this league the Valley Forge owner want to start. Has anyone else heard of new leagues?

10 teams? Very interesting for a league that crumbled, fell apart and had one of their teams destroy their place of residence in revolt. That being said, I hope that the MAHL rebounds and is successful. It is a good concept for the up and coming players and gives them a place to follow the dream. It will be interesting to see who is in the front office for the league.

Tim Kolpien, Valley Forge Freedom owner, is starting a new Single A league according to the Danbury (CT) News Times. Here is a link to the article that was in the Danbury (CT) News Times March 1st edition. http://www.newstimes.com/ci_8418327

According to the article Danbury will have a team and they will "lure" former MAHL teams into the new league.

Brendan Tedstone will be the Danbury team's general manager.

As for me, I would support an eastern based Single A league as long as Haines was not in the picture.

I'm going to be extremely skeptical....again.

I have to think all of the MAHL markets are severely damaged, if not destroyed.

Just read over on the MAHL Website, that they are looking for Coaches for expansion teams in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. With the MWHL starting next season with teams supposedly in Michigan, Indian, Ohio and Kentucky sound like the MAHL is placin teams close to the MWHL so when the MAHL ceases operations again the teams can jump right into the MWHL.

More likely they are merging whatever assets they still have with the MWHL.

These leagues are currently the product of 3 different dreamers...It is unlikely
that the MAHL, MWHL and the league that the Valley Forge owner is trying
to start would all come into existence at the same time.

More than likely, especially with Haines in the picture...Look for a hostile takeover
before anything positive could come out of any one of these leagues. Haines
track record speaks for itself and spells disaster for Single-A hockey in the
great lakes region.

Expansion??? Tryouts???

Shouldn't they be gearing up for this seasons playoffs now?

Very interesting that is for sure. I saw that the MWHL has their first commissioner named. Does anyone know for a fact that Haines is involved with this?

I don't think this is a Haines deal -- his usual website design and sponsors are nowhere to be found, and the website is asking potential team owners to explain their qualifications (that, alone, should mean Haines isn't part of it).

Isn't Haines The Fleeting still with the AIFL/A?

If they follow the Keys too closely, they'll wind up announcing sneaker deals. :)

And Chinese TV.

He lost a lawsuit with the AIFL over a team he tried to resell from its owner. Apparently fearing possible liability if they stayed in the league, the other owners banded together and orgainzed the AIFA without Haines.
