After calling up the Montreal Royal two weeks ago to cancel a game on that very same day, the Blizzard did show up tonight in Montreal but were up to some familiar tricks (familiar in Halifax anyway)...here's a quote from the Montreal Royal facebook group ( http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2230371499 )
"Feb29/08
In a game that was more street ball than pro, Montreal Royal top Boston Blizzard 141-116.
Boston arrived in Montreal without a coach; some players looked like they hadn't touched a ball in years, while others looked like they'd just graduated high school. Still, they put up a tough - and sometimes very dirty - fight, even taking an early lead."
Somewhat ironic is what Halifax columnist Chad Lucas had to say after Maywood's first of two games in Halifax wednesday night...
"Maywood Bostoned us tonight: they showed up with only seven players, including a "player-coach." I'm inventing a phrase of ABA lingo here. From now on, showing up with a piecemeal team is known as "Bostoning" your opponent - in honour of the Boston Blizzard, who have perfected the art of rounding up random scrubs to play road games. So tonight the Rainmen were Bostoned, as the Buzz were clearly outmatched from the beginning and never really made of a game of it. But I'll give them credit on two counts: they did bring at least a couple of good players, and they actually showed up all the way from California. That puts them ahead of the Westchester Phantoms, who were originally slated to play Halifax this weekend but couldn't be bothered to make the trip from New York. Hence, not showing up at all is now known as "Pulling a Phantom." Got that?"
