Any news releases about this one game shootout to determine who advances to face Minot?

I've heard a couple dates tossed around (11th, 12th)...

any other playoff information?

Thanks in advance!

Nothing yet. But don't count on the 11th. The X announced during their last game about a doubleheader with the Steelers on that date, where they will host Albany.
Also, my other concern is that the league may decide to schedule it down there.

from attendance it makes sense to have a larger crowd... but if it is in Pitt I will be there again.... I remember them saying something about Franco coaching a team of Steelers in an exhibition.... would make a perfect playoff tie-in to perhaps boost your home crowd..... if the season ends the 9th... I can see the league putting EK/Pitt one game play-in on the same night (11th)....

of course I wouldnt complain without the 5 1/2 hour drive up and play here in Pikeville either.

So you are saying that they would replace Albany with the Miners for the exhibition?
I would guess that we will find out the details soon, concerning this. But ppd games have been forfeited in the past, I see no reason why they could not just give us forfeits against GF and switch the Atlanta game for them to come up here.
ot, I sense that you see umor about the league screwing up our playoffs, but I'm very serious! I respect how good the Miners are, but I feel the Xplosion are being ripped by the league's decision, like they are 'policing' who should go to the post-season. To me, that is not right.
You had said that you understand my frustration. So you should be able to see my point.

PBSF, I actually see your point. Pitt took second place fairly. Why should they be subject to a playoff game. The league wants to reward EK for having a good season as a team and an orginzation. And of course since the original playoff format would have included EK. So the shrinking playoffs situation, only Ek is screwd, as Butte doesnt have anyone to care. So this is to Pacify Ek by being left out.

Thanks, Kings. Now, add to that the fact that, even though Albany lost last night, the Patroons are being awarded forfeits for not playing the same teams that we should have been awarded forfeits for(GF and Atlanta)!! No word on any forfeits for the X!! This puts Albany back into the playoff picture. With due respect for Albany and E.K., what's wrong with this picture?? I still have not heard of the X getting any forfeits!!

you havent heard of the Miners getting forfeits either... Pitt did get one for a game in ATL where as we were forced to play. Also, the MIners were forced to play in those high school gym travesties of Tuckman's... no forfeits for us either.... just remember the slipper can fit on the other team's feet also.

I realize that, ot. What I'm saying is that forfeits should be awarded evenly among the teams that deserve it. I'm sure that the Miners are due some forfeits. But if the league awarded the points, do it fairly so it's even and not give some out to some teams and not others which appears the case here.
Maybe the X will be awarded some too but if we have a one game showdown, then that does not appear the case. I'm not trying to disclaim the Miners or Patroons in any way. But I feel that we are getting a raw deal out of this(imo).

it would be next to impossible given the leagues flip-flop decisions earlier to evenly distribute forfeits now...The league reacted to the ATL/Butte/GF problems as they arose and thus the daily schedules was completed on the fly so to speak.

Some teams didn't have to play (getting PPD/forfeit wins) while others were instructed by the league that their games HAD to be played. I guess we will just have to ride this out ... but I doubt this is the last controversy this season.

if the Miners or Patroons lose any of their remaining games? I would think that the one game showdown will not be neccesary.

Once again psbf take off your Xplosion glasses. The one gmae playoff is gonna happen whether you like it or not. You might as well get used to it!

It was just a question, yes or no is fine. No need for an attitude! Besides, even if complaining will do no good, i have a right to express myself as anyone else does(as they have in the past)!

psbf, how does it feel to be the sole reason why everybody on this message board cheers against the Xplosion? I could have cared less about them, but after all your ridiculous posts, I hope to see nothing less than the Xplosion not make the playoffs.

Right now it looks like the Patroons are almost out of the playoff run. Their elimination number is 19.5 (quarterpoint losses v. EKY quarterpoint wins), based on tonight's results. Plus, the Miners have a cupcake game against Atlanta, and Albany's got rough sales for the rest of the season.

So good luck in the playoffs with whomever you face.

Thats funny ML, but the real funny thing is when we see the foam finger for sale on ebay.

Pittsburgh X foam finger

in very used condition.

Arman Gilliam autograph(still stightly legible).

chuck.... for the 19.5 does that count forfeit wins in the mix?

psbf

The X WILL make the playoffs(where we should be)!! And I don't know what X foam finger you're talking about, unless you're dreaming. Yes, that must be it!:)

chuck.... for the 19.5 does that count forfeit wins in the mix?

It counts the forfeit victories and the quarterpoints from last night.

Essentially if EKY 7-0's ATL and 7-0's Minot Albany would have to run the table and 7-0 Minot and 7-0 RGV twice and 7-0 Oklahoma twice and 7-0 Pittsburgh in that makeup game to get past the Miners for that playoff spot.

I'll try to keep the quarterpoint situation updated on OSC when I get a chance tonight.

i am one of the most supportive Miners fans, but I doubt we would ever 7-0 Minot on the road... but I agree the Patroons have their work cut out with the reamining schedule including OK as they are legitimately close to Yakima/Minot in terms of overall team play... we were fortunate to be playing together as a team and pull off the home sweep of OK..

thanks for keeping the QP's updated

What bothers me more than anything, is that the rest of the league is in action while the Xplosion do not play until Thursday(in Butte). The X have usually done well after returning to play following long inactivity, but it still worries me. At least if we had hosted Atlanta last night we would have helped our cause(played).

psbf, just enjoy the upcoming playoff season... try not to let things bother you so much.... regardless of whoever you play in the play-in game you can look at the glass half-full perspective and think of it as an extra home game... but from the glass half-empty side... that extra home game might just end the X's season also...

Can't do anything about the playoff scene anyway, regardless of where it is. I only hope we get thru and move on, or I'll give up on it all for this season.
Until then, I'm nervously awaiting the X return to action(wait is too long, imo)!

looks like 14 pts is the magic number for E.K. to clinch a spot in the play-in game
