Given how this season has gone for the Xplosion makes me feel glad that we did join the league(despite the troubles with certain teams). But as the X prepare for the playoffs it is not a good sign that the league still has not announced a format yet. I recall the last time we were in the post-season. Say what you want about the ABA and all deserved for that league. But the bright spot(imo) was that they announced their format ahead of time and our fans knew what was ahead and who we would play(we lost to the Bellingham Slam 121-116 in our innagural season in the ABA one game shy of their final 8). It would be nice if the CBA office could announce something before the official end to the season.

I am convinced they have told the teams invovled. See my post regrading Magic 95 announcing the day the YAK/OK series will begin.

Your playoffs may begin on either of those dates, Kings, but at the Xplosion home finale it was announced that the X would host Albany(I'm guessing that this is a make-up game) as part of a doubleheader with the Steelers and an All-Star team on the 11th.

Chris Needham, the Cavs announcer, has been saying all year that the top 2 from each division go to the playoffs. We were in third place behind Butte for a while and every broadcast he'd stress how we needed to catch Butte to make the playoffs.

Either he's a good guesser or he's well informed.

I'm pretty sure that the teams know when the playoffs start because they'd have to be making plans with their arenas.

why don't they make it official and let the fans know too?
I emailed the X about that(among other things) and unless I hear otherwise, I'll be going to their doubleheader on the 11th.

The X figure that the ones who come will come even with minimal notice?

'Cause they think you're strange.

I see. The league gives no official word of a playoff format with only teams giving posters unverified word of rumors of when and how the playoffs are to be set up and your calling me strange?? :D

I think of it this way....if more than the div leaders or top two teams in each division were to make the playoffs it would be in the league's best interest to announce that early since it would only benefit the league attendance and excitement if more teams / fans thhought they had a shot at the playoffs. Therefore, I think no news is bad news for the 3rd and 4th place teams, maybe even the 2nd place teams. Any delay at this point is to decide if it's going to be only the div leaders or top two in each...I would be very surprised at this point if more were invited.

Well, if it is the 3rd and 4th place teams then we have a problem since Great Falls is in 4th place right now.

I agree, Patroons1.

I hate to break it to you, okcavs67, but the Explorers are no more.

Zeke says the top 3 teams make the playoffs. The Minot TV station and Oklahoma radio say the top two. RGV media says top 4.

I think he grasps that concept....otherwise he wouldn't have said "We have a problem."
