There's only 6 teams in the I, no?
There isn't going to be much of a league unless an expansion can be added. Port Huron is already a drain (again), isn't it?
I find it telling when Youngstown talks about the E or the USHL (I'd actually bet the latter), not the I.

The IHL should allow the CHL to buy them out as a whole and incorporate the teams. The CHL and UHL looked at doing that last year but then the UHL backed out, I guess to become the IHL. The CHL has a franchise in Ohio and the current IHL franchises could play in that division. The CHL is a much stronger league and is stable.

Except Youngstown seems pretty sure they won't be in the CHL next year.

Bloomington appears to be in trouble.

I have heard that there is discontent in Youngstown. I know that part of the discontent revolves around how far the Steelhounds have to travel for games. If the teams in the "I" were able to survive to merge with the CHL then part of the Steelhounds issues would be solved. Do you know what league they are looking at to play in?

Their owner seems to be open to any league not named the CHL....although they look to be pushing hard for the ECHL or juniors.

Their record isn't too bad. Could be worse. They might be able to survive in the ECHL. Maybe they could try the "I", if it will be around next year.

The ECHL would have been a better fit for Cleveland even going back to it's IHL (Lumberjack) days...
Wolstein center would need ice making capabilities but fits less and would probably
charge less rent. If this would have ever happened, Youngstown would have
another close rival. It probably can't now...Quicken Loans arena wants a tenant
and the Cavaliers owner is more than willing to pour a team into it. Even if it
draws less than 5,000 people and receives very little media coverage. They
simply refuse to learn...
Should the MAHL reform (and Andrew Haines get shaken out of it)...That type
of league may be just as well a fit as the ECHL or IHL for Youngstown. If Haines
keeps his paws on the league, I wouldn't even suggest they go there. (Unless
then want to play a partial season in 08-09...)

Any new news on the "I" next year? Anyone? I still think they should merge with the CHL. The CHL website says they avearge 3962 per game and the IHL says they average 3400. With Youngstown leaving (possibly) and a new CHL team starting play next year, the four strongest IHL teams could move in seamlessly. What do guys think?

They still seem pretty isolated from the CHL, honestly.

True they are isolated right now. However, if Youngstown doesn't leave the CHL and with future expansion it could possibly work. A South Dakota franchise starts play next year I believe and the new Kansas City franchise will start play in '09. I know that they had discussions of merging at the end of last season and that the IHL/UHL backed out at the last moment.

Where would this future expansion be, pray tell?

With the exception of the Rush and the KC franchise, I'm not sure exactly where they would expand. I just know that they are looking around. I don't have any particulars, sorry if that statement made it look like there was some new development.

The CHL is expanding into new Global Entertainment arenas in Independence and Allen. Since the AHL has not entered into Kansas City yet, the CHL should own Kansas City next year with the team and arena in Independence. Collin County, Texas, has grown so much recently, an Allen franchise with a new arena should do better than the Texas Brahmas, who were forced out of Fort Worth into an ice rink in North Richland Hills. Fort Worth got tired of hearing the Brahmas asking for lower rent. Besides, its their intention to demolish the arena downtown anyway soon to make room for more convention center exhibit space.

Thank you for bumping an ancient thread with the same info you posted in five other threads.
