YAKIMA, Wash- The following is a press release sent to us (KNDO New Station) by Sun Kings head coach Paul Woolpert concerning the firing of assistant coach Kipp Christianson.

"The Yakama Nation committee released Sun King Assistant Coach and Director of Marketing and Sales Kipp Christianson Tuesday, February 19th under no approval or knowledge from Head Coach and General Manager Paul Woolpert. This action was taken without any warning or concrete reasoning.

According to the statement given determining his termination, "...failure to help promote the team in any matter which further the best interest of the team..." and "...failure to conduct business in a professional manner at all time..." were just two of the reasons the committee used in assessing his release. Both of which were not provided with further explanation or examples. The Yakama Nation committee and Kipp have never met. Coach Paul Woolpert was not consulted, aware or in agreement of this committee action.

Based on circumstantial evidence and illegitimate funds, it is to assume that non-work related and personal factors were brought in to determine this matter against Kipp Christianson.

Head Coach Paul Woolpert hired Kipp in July 2007 as Director of Sales and Marketing, to later promote him as his Assistant Coach in November 2007.

Kipp Christianson has contributed to the Yakima community through the Sun Kings by organizing youth basketball camps, a Wapato food drive, and working with organizations such as the American Lung Association, YPAL, Enterprise for the Progress In the Community (EPIC) and the YMCA. Additional promotions for the Sun Kings were scheduled.

The Sun Kings are headed to a historical CBA best season ever with a 35-3 record and are in hopes of adding a sixth CBA championship. With only four weeks till the end of the season, it is unfortunate that the proper powers at hand will be shortchanged without the contributions provided by Kipp Christianson.

Legal action is currently being sought regarding his financial shortages and improper conduct of front office personnel. "

Oh, it's good to put that in a press release.

Seriously, there's not a person in minor league basketball who knows how to deal with the media, is there? Not one.

That dude gave up a nice job in pharmeceutical sales in Florida to take this job at a fraction of what he was making. Because he wanted a career in basketball. More to the story I assume. Woolpert doesnt like being undermined and this could lead to his him being elsewhere in the future.

If he leaves, I wonder if someone will take a belt sander to those "Paul Woolpert Court" stickers on the SunDome basketball floor in spite.

SUNKINGS, what is going on out there? It almost sounds to me like the Yakama Nation wanted to cut some expenses for the rest of the season so they cut the assistant coach.

ML that is kind of a theory around here, but that doesnt make sense. There really is only two weeks left in the season. And I know for a fact he is making nothing. Our last assistant quit and he was making 10,000 per year. Obviously he did something or they would have kept him for a couple more weeks. He isnt really the assistant coach either. He has done well , there are signs in front of restaraunts on game night, and billboards promoting the team. They never had that kind of stuff in the past. Whatever it's no big loss. The guys took it out on the Patroons tonite.
