Contrary to what the ABA CEO would like to make you believe ...

ABA is expansion is DEAD!

Take a look for yourself. http://www.abalive.com/expansion/

Click on all the team sites ... and what do you see ... not much going on!

These teams are getting such a great start on the 2008-2009 ABA season ...

Have you signed your venue agreement yet? Do you know the name of your own team yet? Does your community even know that your team exists? Where's your website? Is your team prepared to start selling season ticket packages for 2008-2009 in about 6-8 weeks time?

These ABA Standings are the sure "tell-all" ...
http://www.abalive.com/standings/standings.html

Who's fooling Who

I'm not fooled ... Believe me!

Count the games played (or cancelled) ... or click on
http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3595296

This season, the ABA has played just 38 percent of its original schedule, calling off games for a wide variety of reasons.

It's pretty easy to figure out what the state of this Minor League League organization is in ...

Thanks to the ABA CEO (once again) ... He just keeps on plugging ABA expansion!

And to think ... Now, there's a market reservation fee, plus a performance bond.

That's going to make it sooooooo much better

THE ABA IS IN A WORLD OF HURT!

The 2008-2009 ABA Season is already shaping up to be another FAILURE of a season ... !

Small correction: the previous ownership of the Silverbacks is what's going to be in the PBL. There is no news of what the current ownership is going to do.

Buffalo Silverbacks - Not in the ABA, Member of the PBL

The Silverbacks have a new owner, Vincent Lesh. He now owns the rights to that name and team. Who knows what his plans are for next season...

The PBL Buffalo team is owned by a media company, NexxNow Inc.
The company just happens to be headed by Todd Wier, who owned and operated the Silverbacks/Rapids from 2005-2007, this PBL team is a whole new show.

All the links about NexxNow, more specifically about its great partnership with the CBA are all in my signature

EDIT: Thanks LightningMan, you beat me by a few minutes ;)

Of the CURRENT teams listed on the league website:
http://www.abalive.com/teams/

I wonder how many teams will actually be in the ABA next year?

How many R.I.P. headstones do we need to get ready ...

How many teams will be making the jump to other leagues?

The ABA may think they are getting some PBL teams back, but I wouldn't be too sure of that!

As far as expansion goes, I was told that Joe wants teams in Oakland and in Concord, CA to support the San Francisco squad. Having grown up about 15 minutes from Concord I can tell you that this WILL NOT WORK!!

Concord is a city of about 130,000 or so and can barely support high school athletics, much less the ABA. Oakland has the Warriors and is more of a major league sports town than anything. The Niners are across the bay, the NHL's Sharks are about 45 minutes south (Three hours with traffic), and of course the Raiders are in Oakland as well. Joe.......THIS WILL NOT WORK!! Look at the lack of success the team in San Francisco had which was ABAish in they haven't played in months.

Ahh ABAish. The words created by TheStandard

Oh wait , also. He wants to put teams in Riverside, County. San Bernardino, County to so they can play with Orange County and Maywood. First off San Bernardino wont support it heck they barely support their baseball team. Riverside? My god a team where???? Welcome to no man's land.

Joe how about putting a team in Yermo or zzyzx, ca.

Heck pro basketball cant even survive in San Diego yet alone the ABA. I don't know how the Wildcats do it but they are sure dying from lack of cash

IMO,it will be a financial disaster if the aba tries to field a team at the citizens business bank arena in ontario, cail

You are all missing the point. A team doesn't have to be financially successful. Some dumb schmuck just has to have $10,000, a dream and not much business acumen. If one team fails, another steps in and gives Joe his $10,000. How many seasons has this scheme gone on now?

...that doesn't mean it would play a single game. It's been the same scheme year after year.
Expaaaaand from April to August -- then watch teams fall off one by one.
Expaaaand a little more for the rest of the off season -- "We didn't think they would be ready,
but they have proven they could get alot done in a short time."

Then watch teams drop off one by one in November til March while adding one
here and there. Its always a "65 team" league in the summer, 40 on the schedule and
about 20 that actually are around at the end of the season.

Did you deface that sign? That's public property and a cost to the taxpayers.

That's not me. I wish I were that thin. My feet don't do flip-flops, for that matter.

I've driven past a few times, and that's it.

NK - what an odd question. Very odd. When I look at that photo I don't immediately think "who defaced that sign".

It was probably some poor sap who invested 10k in a ponzi scheme and his idea of 'gorilla-marketing' was to attach 3 small red stickers on a public sign that most people roar past at 70 mph. Then when it didn't work threw a couple of eggs at the sign.

Paul S...you are exactly on target....

That picture depicts the "highly successful" ABA marketing plan...and all you are out is cost of a couple of eggs!

That's my new favorite ABA team!

The Zzyzx Zags!
