Nope, it looks like they have just changed their name and are still in operation.

I stand corrected, the Jam/Slam have ceased operations.

I can't quite figure this one out...I thought the PBL was going to take over the
operation. Is this just ownerships way of saying their jumping ship???

I fear an ABA return. Worse yet, this looks really bad for the PBL...

Not quite. JAM have suspended operations. SLAM goes on.

From what I can tell, the PBL took all of the Jam's players and they will now be the Slam. This was clearly done in a somewhat hostile fashion. The Jacksonville "Jam" have ceased operations, while the "Slam" will take their place. Chances are, due to the trademark remaining with the current owner, they had to switch the name.

their press release. Apparently the Jam are suspending operations and leaving the PBL, to explore their options.

They did. It is.

Exactly. Chances are, they sat down with the Jam's players that weren't getting paid, paid them, and offered to continue doing that if they'd all move over to the "Slam." Given the Jam's financial issues, I'm sure it was a no-brainer for the players. It's too bad it had to come to this, but the league resolved the situation in the best way possible. Really, the only difference now is the name and a new owner--it sounds like the venue, dates, and players will remain the same. Ideally, they'll continue to draw a reasonable number of fans and maybe even grow the base, and then they'll be able to sell the team in the off season.

Did anyone ever see if the Jam TV deal worked out??? I found that stations
website, but it hadn't been updated in a while...Nothing elsewhere.

Today's "jam" press release reads like this to me:

You can't break up with me<yesterday>, cause I was going to break up with you tomorrow <today> anyway.

Weak, weak, so weak. Good riddens and good bye.

i think bdaly has it right. Jam is no more. Slam is alive, presumably with the players that the league was paying anyway.
