...for either the Steubenville Stampede or the Summit County Rumble for the 2008 season.

Who do I contact? Where the heck are their websites?

Are you really Peter Griffin?

Actually it is because of the current defunct
status of Steubenville and Summit that I'd
advise against purchasing season tickets. That
would force these leagues to get ownership that
doesn't have to rely on the miniscule start up
money that season tix holders generate. Let
the darn team stand on its own for a few seasons
and then dish out your hard earned cash up front.
There is absolutely NO reason to purchase season
tix for a CIFL team. Even the hardy discount some
teams offer does no good when that same team
closes its doors mid-season. Just show up the day
of a game and I guarantee a good seat can be had
at the door.

Good grief!

I take a leave of absence from this board back in July of 2007 and I can see Rome has been sacked!

Hey Bruiser,

I remember mouthing off back in April of 2007 about the lack of parity and lopsided scores. Has anything tangible been done to get equal rosters around the league?

Any gimmicks in the rules for 2008 to keep the game scores close?

I keep referring to the NFL flag football game system I saw some youngsters playing whereby the weaker team doesn't get blown out on the scoreboard.

The last I remember when watching the Silverbacks is, a slight talent advantage blows out the other team.

Anything done in this regard?

I'd go to the CIFL forum for these answers but I was banned from that feature for being outspoken.

Looking forward to the AAFL. That league bridges quite nicely with the CFL, who in turn bridges back to the NFL in August.

My bases are covered. It's up the NIFL/NIFL-like leagues to prove to me you got your ducks lined up if you want my entertainment dollars.

I got options. You?

That "bridge" won't last for long.

Nevertheless, the 2008 calendar is covered.

If I knew you personally I'd bet you $1000.00 (I'll even give you 3 to 1 odds) all six AAFL teams that begin the season complete their season without the use of replacement squads and without any players and coaches having their checks bounce and without any teams folding during the season.

I'm not a betting man...but IMO even if either Texas or Alabama doesn't fold during the season, the franchises will most likely be running on fumes/sucking wind at the end.

Define sucking wind/on fumes, please. And your point was?

The bases are covered for 2008.

A realistic budget was created with a strong financial commitment in place come hell or high water.

As the season progresses more money goes out than in.

Season ends with everyone getting paid.

Main objective was met = league was adequately funded with all teams completing their season. A few wealthy individuals got their kicks by blowing their money on a rich man's hobby.

During the offseason the investors decide if they've had enough.

They either do a second season right, or not at all.

That's the way it should be.

Life is good.

If people have to wait another 5 years for the funds to be available for someone to do it right again, then so be it.

Raiding a letter of credit, playing in front of empty houses, writing rubber checks.

That sort of thing.

There will not be any AAFL teams folding during the year. Mr. Kaatz put the money up front. About a 90 million.

The coaches, players, staff, NFL referees and venues will be paid by the AAFL directly. This is a test model for the NFL this year. They are in talks for 2009 being purchased by the NFL as the NEW NFL Europa!

Congrats to RayShawn Askew. One of the greatest indoor players ever.. for making Team michigan!

(ready for comments)

I guess I just don't understand why the NFL would throw money at this league when there's other developmental alternatives (CFL, and AFL to a lesser extent) for late bloomers that don't cost them a dime.

They already have the greatest minor league system they could hope for; the NCAA.

Sorry, I don't really have anything to add on the fold or not-to-fold discussion... while I agree that there probably won't be midseason folds, I would hazard a guess that the attendance for several of these clubs will be much less than they anticipate. This WILL cause franchise turnover in between seasons, IMO.

As I saw observed elsewhere...if those talks were serious, you would have seen some under the table help with logos and branding...I can bet the NFL would have know better than to brand "Team Alabama" with Alabama colors...kiss half your potential fanbase good bye right there.

Dude, there's only six teams slated for their first season. LOL

Aaaaaaannnnd your point is what? Anywhere, in any previous post, did anyone reference how many teams there were?

Ummm, yes....it was you. The word several in a present day context that you wrote... before expansion or one-for-one team replacement between seasons takes place assuming there is a second season. LOL!

***- Unrelated: One-for-one team replacement between seasons is not expansion. The size of the league stays the same.

I guess you were not writing a book for publication so I guess it doesn't matter.

You're fun to pick on. What does that say about me?

I had a blast from day one with the CIFL.

Remember this one in regards to CIFL message board posting before the first season?:

There were comments to the effect the league will not censor message board posting like there is in the NIFL boards.

That didn't last long. LOL!

I'm rambling again. Sorry!
